Drifting

Dude that same intersection for all of them? Must be the bermuda triangle for Mustangs lol.

That's what happens when you use "affordable" + "powerful" in the same sentence 🙁

Who the fvck in their right mind nails the throttle through the floor in a 600 WHP car mid turn, then doesn't get off it when they are staring at the curb?!!

But it's fun, it's not about lap times!!!

It's funny how many muscle car and American only car types view drifting as some retarded Fast and the Furious thing imports do (and ricers try to do), but they love doing burnouts and donuts and doing power slides in their muscle cars, which is basically the same shit :awe:

How can you love burnouts and donuts and sliding the rear end out, but not like drifting, an entire auto sport built around doing never ending "donuts" and burnouts around a course?

I made a "U turn" with my right foot the other night, after pulling up along side the ATM drive trough from the side lane and having to flip 180 in tight space (275 front tires = no turning radius). Of course it was 11pm and no other cars in the parking lot 😀 Nothing like a telegraphing bumpsteered IRS and responsive throttle with scalpel precision.

you answered your own question. v-tec, yo.

Dude hit someone and kept going ?! Holy fawking shiznit...

How far did he expect to go with all those cars, cameras, people, event police presense, etc...

Actually, I kinda wish we were there. My friend (Estrella here on AT forums) is the Houston intern for Jalopnik. Imagine what fun that would have been?

Way too many people unfortunately. Hell, even in semi-controlled events like an autocross I see way too many novice drivers panic in a slide and COMPLETELY forget to get out of the throttle

Yeah, but at auto-x you take out some cones, not other cars and people.

Generally yes, thats true. Same principal though, people panic and dont immediately let out the throttle. Also, i had an S2000 slide right through where I was standing, even at an Autox sliding can be dangerous (and oh so fun! :awe::awe: )

The "oh shit" adrenaline spike and swallowing of their heart causes their hearing to go completely dead (no longer hear the engine still going wide open) and legs to go numb (no throttle adjustment). Basically the only thing their brain is processing at that moment are their eyes, what the car is about to hit, and their hands on the wheel trying to avoid it. It's this same autopilot phenomenon that causes people to attempt to start the car again and grind the starter because the engine is still running, or don't recall when, where, or how the engine cut off as an accident occurred.

It's people who've never gone crazy with their car in a safe place to know how it reacts. There is no need to go WOT to power slide. Any time I'm playing around like that, it's blip and let off, next thing you know the rear end is sliding out 10 feet and coming to a stop because you're not even in the throttle any more. It doesn't take much. I've naturally developed a reflex of immediately letting off the throttle when I've intentionally forced over steer, without waiting to see where I end up.... by then it's too late. That said, shit can still happen, so I never do stupid shit in places where there are obstacles to avoid 😀

Worst trouble I ever got into was almost clothes-lining a guardrail taking a sweeping 1/4 cloverleaf off ramp at 70. Was high as a kite smooth sailing until about 1/3 of the way through the radius suddenly tightened up sharp with no warning... all 4 tires squealing, took everything I had to trust the car to slow down on it's own and NOT TOUCH THE BRAKE PEDAL... and let me tell you the brake pedal is terrifyingly seductive when you see a guard-rail zooming in for a close up and get an inch away from your passenger side mirror... The first and last time I did anything crazy on an unfamiliar street... I had never taken that off ramp before in my life /face2desk I took it again the next day, going the "recommended 25" and wondered how the fvck that happened without a scratch. If the car had yawed just a foot or two, the right rear and front left would have both hit guardrails on opposite sides at the same time... Probably the scariest moment of my life, not because it was a danger to life or limb but I thought for sure my baby was going to be in the body shop for a couple months.

For shits and giggles I went WOT around a sharp 90 at low speed. Ended up overcorrecting (steering only - no gas or brake input) and resting on the other side of the street with my front bumper just atop the curb.

Wow, that was a crazy road. Loved the overhead shot of all the loops.

Hahaha yeah the announcers are insanely hilarious. I want to capture part of that commentary where they wreck and have it as some appropriate windows sound : "WHOOOAOAAAAA SUGOICRASHOH!!!!!!"

That would be awesome!

that's not fail, that's a ton of win

lol orange shoebox of doom! Those are the best builds to see, when someone takes the last car you would expect and does something like this to it.

Tt 3.2, wonder when Honda will introduce that option from the dealer :awe:

They can take out timing equipment and make everyone's day shitty D:

Someone was an idiot, went off-course, and nearly got me at an auto-x. Sometimes the stations aren't laid out so well...

Honda needs to bring turbo engines back. They have the damn know how - boosted F1 engines /drool.

There are auto-x where you race together too...solo is just popular because no one wants to damage their car.

Really? All ive seen is pro-solo (side by side, but not on the same track) and regular solo..

Thats sorta the definition of autox isnt it?

Well as a 'brand name' SCCA autox is all solo, but if just an abbreviation for autocross it depends. You don't have to race side by side though to have an incident, they may have two 'tracks' set up and another goes off track into your's. They may have someone follow right after another by a few seconds. Depends on who's doing it and how official it all is.

For the most part the chances of contacting another vehicle is usualy slim though.
