Drew Carey is a horrible game show host...

Evidently it's harder than it looks to be fun and funny in front of an audience, yet still convey a certain amount of respect for games where you're dropping a plastic disc through a wall of prongs or trying to keep a little man from falling over the side of the Matterhorn.

The couple of times I've seen Drew Carey hosting, he didn't even know all the rules of the games without being prompted by people off camera. Barker FTW

He comes off of like oh boy another showing...

I think he just took it to boost his career and take something else on TV that came his way after his contract was up.

I say give it a year or two he has big shoes to fill... maybe he will get used to the role and start being himself. I think what is really making him act the way he does are the contestants... he can't figure out a universal way to act around each one.

It should have been Marc Summers damnit, he would have been perfect. He's even hosted the stage version of the show.

well that's a fact so it's hard to fill his shoes, but Drew does a decent job. i don't know who would do any better.

Wayne Brady does it all better.

Dont make Wayne brady shoot anyone !!

I think the Sports Guy said it best:

Still, I can't believe they're replacing Bob Barker -- it's like Jerry Seinfeld retiring from "Seinfeld" and NBC deciding, "You know what, we're gonna keep the show going with someone else, let's see if we can get Jay Mohr." No other game show host could combine the right mix of sarcasm, crustiness, smoothness, smarminess, athleticism (nobody was a better putter, not even Tom Watson in his prime), unintentional comedy and raw, unadulterated, "I might look old, but it wasn't that long ago when I was involved in a sex scandal with one of the Showcase models" sexuality that made Bob so great and unique. And since that's the case, they should just cancel the show.

Never watched him on that show. In fact, I haven't really seen anything he's done since 'Who's Line Is It Anyway.' He called in to the Howard Stern show about a month ago though and talked about how easy his life is. He basically works from 11AM-5PM 3 days a week on Price is Right. Nice life dude!

And what other hosts were hits from day one?

It's not his "day one", he's been on in the mornings for a while, not to mention he's been a host of an improv show, a game show, and had a sitcom.
He's terrible, admit it.
In other news, I liked the Drew Carey show because of his friends and Mimi, and I loved Whose Line.

I don't really find him that funny either, but do give him a lot of credit since he's a big political activist for individual rights and is a Marine.

I find him about as 'funny' as a funeral.

He's terrible on Price Is Right and I never cared for his other Television offerings either.

I think that Drew is doing a great job! He needs to work on his golf game, though... his "inspiration putts" for Hole In One aren't very inspirational!
