I kinda like the sound of that ;)

Suit for me.

No formal dress code as some guys wear pretty casual stuff. I prefer to dress this way. Sets a better image in the office enviroment when people are about.

My job right now doesn't really have one, in my Engineering department (working at a Hydro Service), we all wear jeans and non-collared shirts. It's extremely lax.

Are they going to give people extra money to go buy all kinds of shirts and ties? I'm thinking that they aren't and that is the only reason they say it is "not required", so they don't have to deal with people who say they can't afford to buy a whole new wardrobe.

At my old job, it was business casual. But, there was this intern who was working there just when the switch was made. They told him it was business attire, suit and tie required. So he went out and bought a bunch of suits and ties, and by the time he showed up, it became business casual.

I have to wear a tie everyday.
The thinking behind it is, if you dress professional and look professional, you will act professional.

The thinking is bogus with that logic. However, I think what is true is that if you see someone ELSE wearing a tie, you will treat them with more respect. So it works out to somewhat the same result. I don't think that if I wear a tie I'm going to act any differently, but I will expect other people to act differently around me.

We have a business casual dress code here. It's not too bad, just wear basically anything but jeans and a decent shirt and that's ok.

No dress code except for the usual inappropriate, offensive attire ban and no sandals because of OSHA law

When I see a tie, I think car salesman.

The last company I worked for tried this. Attrition went through the roof within a few months.

A casual dress code is one of the easiest ways to boost/maintain morale. Start slapping ties on everyone, and you piss them off (unless there's a genuine reason, like client visits, etc).

I wouldn't mind a more formal dress code where I work, but the original post is full of delicious irony. The management is so unwilling to blame themselves for poor productivity that they are willing to even blame lack of neckwear.

That is too bad.
It seems like a few bad "apples" always ruin the bunch. :(

We have a very very small office, but we too have a very relaxed business casual dress code and casual fridays.

From what i have seen, a tie or suit will not make anything better. It seems to only make people more cranky because they have to be dressed up.

Good luck.
