Shoes: Allen Edmonds
these guys sold me shoes that don't fit (the salesman didn't bother measuring my width), weren't matched (the left is *noticeably* more narrow than the right), and wouldn't let me return them.

"oh, they'll loosen up when you wear them"

yeah, well after 3 months it didn't happen.

And they're both the same size? That's strange.

With Allen Edmonds shoes, it can take some trial and error to get your sizing right since they have many different lasts.
I stick to the same lasts with their shoes. Park Ave, Fifth Ave, Strands, McAllister's etc...all share the same lasts.
They also run long and are very narrow, so instead of getting regular D, I'd get E.

I bought them at Nordstrom which has an awesome return policy and it took sometime for me to get my size. I hear Zappos has a great return policy as well.

the size printed inside both shoes is 10D. i showed the guy that they weren't the same and he told me that's not possible. well, clearly it is.

got them at an AE store so you'd think they'd know to check the width of someone's foot and adjust accordingly.

I've been getting most of my "dress" clothes from Banana Republic or Express the last few years. The slim fit shirts at express fit very well on me and the chinos at Banana have a good cut to look slender while not squeezing the jesus out of my quads. For polos, which is primarily what I wear these days in the office, I stick to the thick Polo Ralph Lauren with maybe a couple Hilfiger shirts as well.
