Never heard of it. Is this another one of those kids series, like Harry Potter?
KT
uh no, quite the opposite. More of a modern day crime thriller with magic.
... in other words, yes
😉
Never heard of it though.
Not really, HP setting is more old world. Dresden is strictly modern day even though
Wizards can't use technology due to their aura's interfering. I really enjoy the series ...
Are you shitting me? Who comes up with this crap?
Fantasy writers, dumbfuck. Hence the FANTASY portion. Let me guess, you only read non-fiction because you don't like to visualize what's happening?
I read fiction, but Jesus Christ have some sense of dignity (unless you are under the age of thirteen) when it comes to suspension of belief.

Man, sorry for enjoying a book - what do you read? I read plenty of other books that go way beyond in the suspension of belief theory, but it's fiction. I don't know what you're expecting there, but he's just trying to set some limitations so that magicians aren't all powerful.
While I wholly respect someone's personal interest in fiction styles, just because at least people are reading and giving their mind something 'interesting'... I cannot, absolutely cannot, get myself to read anything that revolves around magic.
Suspension of belief is one thing... I can't make myself suspend that far, might as well drop a few tabs and jump down the rabbit hole. Far more intriguing.
For books, I'm a fan of the late Michael Crichton's work, as well as Tom Clancy, specifically Rainbow Six. My lord that book is just pure war-sex.
I don't read nearly as often as I'd like to, just never seem to have the time to truly invest into a book. Here and there, yes... but I like reading through a book as fast as possible, trying to get it done within two weeks given the schedule. Page turners are one thing, but a book absolutely cannot hold my attention to finish it in a handful of days. I'm not particularly a speed demon at reading, ADD kills me and I tend to re-read paragraphs constantly or put it down for something else, even if the story is truly engrossing. I love a good story.
Fantasy is just a genre I cannot really enjoy.
I more prefer a kind of surreal fiction, sci-fi fiction, techno-thrillers, and a good mix of those with action/drama/carnage/etc. One of these days I'll get into the original Dune and Children of Dune - loved the Sci-fi tv mini-series for each, and am absolutely sure the books have got to blow them away, especially after many have told me just that.
In fact, I have interest in one day completing my goal of turning all my notes, concepts, chicken scratch, and chapter ideas into a full-fledged novel, ideally novel series. Specifically, mostly a grand thriller/drama revolving around near-future utopia/dystopia, war, mild sci-fi elements (idea for novel series, is each one is somewhat distinct, sometimes quite a few years, if not tens or hundreds, apart... sci-fi obviously introduced more as the story universe progresses). Main goal is to incorporate a lot of philosophy, psychology, and sociology themes, along with religion/anti-religion, conflict with opposites. Essentially, typical story parts, but it'll be a thinking man's book, surreal and gritty/depressing.
The time to turn everything I have into full-fledged plots and chapters... eh, not quite an option at the moment, time isn't quite there. However, a severe FML moment might, hopefully not, happen soon... i'll have a lot of time on my hands to work out severe depression and turn that into strong writing time.
