Dreamweaver issue.

I've recently experience problems using dreamweaver MX on my work PC. When loading or saving a file it'd hang for 30+ seconds (looking at task manager shows 99% CPU useage by DW and says "not responding"). This gets *VERY* annoying as you can imagine. I'd put it down to a dirty system, so did a complete reinstall. To my dismay it still has this problem! I've just installed dreamweaver MX 2004 as well and that displays the same problems.

I'm using textpad now instead, but find mx much more powerful, even from a coder's point of view.

So... a hardware problem I guess. Nothing's been changed recently, so what do you think's died? It's a P3-600 with 384MB ram so I'm due a new PC anyway really, but if I can fix this one that'd be great.

cheers,

Is your work PC on a network? Is the folder you are saving things to not local but instead on a network drive?

My company has a network drive where all the pages are stored, and we use dreamweaver. When the network is slow, dreamweaver is slow.

IMO, you answered your own question.

P3-600 is yer problem right there.
I'm using an Athlon 1400(not even XP) and DreamweaverMX is slower than 4.
I suspect this is because of the database functionality built in now... do you have Cold Fusion stuff installed?

You might try cutting your resource use down to the bone and see if that helps.
Also, try defragging.

Good luck.
