This post may not be for everyone, so let's be polite, okay?

Dreams are endlessly fascinating to me. I have a little bit of knowlege in this area, and believe me, I have learned to apply the scientific method so don't start flaming me.

Do you remember your dreams? I remember dreams I had when I was 6 years old.

Tell me your favorite dreams and I'll tell you mine. I'll even help you interpret your dreams if need be.

Also, who knows what an Incubus is besides a loud band? Extra Credit: What is the counterpart of the Incubus?

And no, I don't have anything better to do at this moment. :D

Isla:

I have occasional dreams (nightmares?) about vampires. Since I was a kid. Not really bad, sometimes I wake up laughing at myself for getting so involved in the dream when it is happening.

Weird, huh?

In AnandTech terminology, the counterpart to an incubus would be an "is-succubus." :D

Sometimes I remember my morning dreams. I.e. those that I have after I've woken up in the morning, and then fallen back to sleep again. I would tell you my favourite dream, but um...you prolly don't want to hear that ;)

Isn't an Incubus some kind of evil creature that rapes women whilst they are sleeping? I'm sure I remember seeing that on X-files or something..

Woooohoooo WW!

Actually, I started this thread because I have a dream I want to share with you. Made me a true believer.

So the x-Files really is an educational show!

My mama always used to say that bad dreams are caused by heartburn that causes the mind to wander.
It seems to me that the technical name for this should be "gastral projection." :D

Vampires, a good one. If it ever gets to the point where they actually bother you, we'll talk. I'm pretty familiar with the symbology/archetypes involved.

In any dream, the dreamer is the best judge of what it actually means. I can guide you, but in the end, it is your dream after all!

Now I see why you are called Wonderful Woman! :) Rich indeed!

Give me some clues for fun. They only happen once in awhile and is not a something that I worry about at all. Still they have been around for 20+ years.

Wellllll...

I need the context of the dream. But:

Vampires suck things and are a 'drain' on your emotional, spiritual, and physical energy. Sometimes they represent a person in your life who is this way. They can also represent a side of yourself. And yes, there can be a sexual connotation, 'specially if you are looking at it from a Freudian POV.

I am just generally being chased. Lots of running. Then fighting them off. When it gets too intense, I usually wake up. I never get bit though.

Freud? Heh, why not, I've heard worse. ;)

Fun stuff.

DINNER TIME!!!!!!!!! :)

I agree that dreams are the language of the subconscious, but I will pose another question: Do you believe there is ever an objective element/intruder/source to one's dreams? Something beyond merely human archetypes?

I always dream weird things. But the freaky thing is that those things actually happen after a while. It's usually really boring stuff, like sitting in study hall and someone says something, but it's still freaky at times.

Does this happen to other people here?

That would bring me to my Good Dream (AKA Life is Suck but I Still Have Faith). But I'll have to post it later tonight. Kids to tuck in now. I'd like YOUR opinion on it, frankly.

I don't often remember my dreams, but when I do they are the weirdest things. Most of the time when I have an unpleasent dream I realize I'm dreaming mid-way through (I'll walk over rocks barefoot and not feel pain and that'll give it away) then I just let whatever's chasing me or something kill me and I wake up.

So, are you lucid dreaming, then? If you have control, you have a wonderful gift. You can turn all your bad dreams into good dreams. Mostly, anyway. :)

PS

I could tell you were special. Can I arrange a marriage with you to my daughter in 10 years? ;)

I often have control over my dreams as well. I can direct and often prolong them.

Once example was I was having a dream about my deceased grandfather and I was enjoying his company so much again I remember "pushing" the dream in a certain direction to continue it. Once I woke up I had a very satisfying feeling.

It was so good "seeing" him again.

Well, I don't know... From the looks and personality of her mom her future looks good, but I'd have to meet her first ;)

If I dream, I don't remember them. Ever. But my wife feels I probably just bury them somewhere in the recesses.

I fall asleep within 5 minutes, sleep like a rock, and don't wake up until the alarm blares. For all I know, that has a meaning of its own.
