Hehe, i just ordered myself a few parts to turn my current system in a C2D one an hour ago myself :D

It's exciting...i think just the excitement of getting new hardware is half why i upgrade CPUs every few months...

i see myself getting sucked into the whole of upgrading as well. Got to keep up with the jones.
What sparked me into wanting to build again, i was saving just to save, was my girlfriends brother is having an amd5000 rig built for him.(monarch computers) Then i rationed it out that i need one for school, which i do. This 6 year old dell 8200 just aint cutting it any more.

Edit:

oCxTiTan, hows it working out for you so far? What does the remote for the mobo do really?

I love it so far, only have it running at 3.15GHz right now to kinda burn the memory in and let the thermal compound cure, but it is still blazing fast, and this is coming from an FX-60@3GHz, 2GB PC4000 and 2x74GB raptors.

Now I have the E6400@3.15GHz, 2GB PC6400 DDR2, and 2x150GB Raptors in Raid 0 and it's like butta!

The remote has a few cool things, like a hibernate button, shut down button, application launcher button and a few other things that can be configured. When you press the app button a list of apps comes up and you use the arrow keys on the remote to choose the app and then some have options that you can choose before actually opening the app. You can also use the play control keys in media players like WMP and itunes to control your music. Pretty cool and about time you can remotely power on and off your computer and they do require a second keypress to ensure you don't accidentally power off the machine.

1)Get the 1900XT over the 7900GT KO

2)Get Antec NeoHE 500/550 over that True Power II, Neo clearly beats it

3)Try to get 4GB ram.

Yeah, I agree. 2GB is plenty for now.

4GB is a must for the near future and for the smooth running of Vista.

NeoHe 500 > Any TP II
1900XT > Any 7900GT

I will stick with the tp2.0 Unless it gives me problems, then i will change it out.

i think my stuff will be here the first part of next week.

Pabster, never been labled a geek before now. I think this is a milestone in my life.:)

Edit:

oCxTiTaN, so the remote will turn the computer on and off? Hell to the yes. I was going to get a fan controller that did that as well. That is freaking sweet

edit edit:

akshayt, now that i look at the neo i kinda wish i did opt for it, if anything just for the modular cables...

I'd stick with 2GB RAM too. Vista isnt out yet. Could be another 6 months or more before it actually does get out. And then of course it'll have to be bug free and stable enough to even get it. You just know its gonna have bugs. And then you also have to decide if you even need/want Vista. Vista isnt going to obsolete XP anytime soon. Upgrade the RAM day or two before you actually get Vista. Until then just run 2GB RAM.

There is absolutely no reason to buy 4gb of ram, although I agree that you should get a different PSU and go with the x1900xt, although if you already ordered dont' worry too much, other than the PSU, which I'm not sure about

I suggest 640KB of RAM. The smaller module sizes will allow faster timings and higher bandwidth over 4GB.
