Referral link deleted

Just trying to give back to the forum that's given me so much. I created code deleted code for use with DreamHost to recieve the maximum $97 for a year of shared hosting. Like the title says, they offer 1TB transfer and 20GB Storage.

Note* - This is a personally created promo code. But, before you flame, I chose the maximum $97 coupon so I recieve no gains from its use.

Do a search, DreamHost is great. I've been with them for years and they have yet to let me down.

No referral links, no coupon codes, no matter what.

It seems the 777 code is still alive which is an even greater deal ($9.24 a year). Like I said before, dreamhost is worth the retail price (anything deducted is just money in your pocket).

I understand, that is why I chose to use the $97 coupon setup. You will be prompted with the coupon amount before you checkout, so be sure to check it.

Yeah, I'm not calling spammer on you -- just pointing the system out due to the other threads (some may have been locked).

you can't... i tried to do that and i got screwed. i got in on a discounted deal like this last year... and I'd went ahead and signed up for a new one last one since my old account died... I was under the impression that I could just move my domain over from the old account to the new one... WRONG! They built into the system something that prevents that... in other words, if you had your domain registered on an 777 (or other promotion account) and then that account expires and you renew the domain... if you try to get a new 777 account and then move that domain over the system won't let you. I was pretty angry seeing as I didn't see this policy written anywhere... oh well.

You should try reading that. It might give you some insight to these whacky "schemes." Do your damnedest to make sure the other forumites don't fall victim to the trickery of Dreamhost.

... or one could simply ask, "Why do you care if someone is making money as long as they're saving you money in the process?" I've gotten ~$3,000 from Dreamhost because of the referral program. So yeah, I've made a pretty penny. But I've never understood people like you and why you care that I'm making money by having you sign up? It baffles me even more when people like you decide to OPT OUT of my promo codes (still sign up, but with no code) just so I don't get any money? So, seeing as how I'm talking to one of you people, perhaps you could explain the logic to me.

Because when someone is making money off of a "HotDeal" that's where they draw the line between helping us and helping themselves. It turns from a selfless act into a selfish act with the justifcation that you provided. You're right, we might save money, but the simple fact that you are profiting is what turns it into an advertisement nonetheless.

im not attacking you BigJohn but, i would like to point out one big point that could make this a advertisement.
Why? there are 2 reward programs from dreamhost.

1) Get paid $97 once per new direct referral, and $5 once per new secondary referral
2) Get paid 10% of all payments forever per new direct referral, and 5% of all payments forever per secondary referral

As you can see, if someone has chosen the second option, they have nothing to lose because, they have a possiblity of making profit after the first year.(assuming a few of us decide to continue to keep our dreamhost account). And if we decide not to continue, the referer loses nothing. Or if we decide to continue again after a few months the referer will still make profit. Because the second option states "forever". So assuming someone gets about 50 referals from posting this, and only 10 of the 50 decide to renew dreamhost after the first year. 1 year renewals are about 119.xx which is a pretty good price. The 10 referals will make back the money he needs to keep his own domain up and running. This is not including secondary referals.

What im saying is there should be no more dreamhost promo codes created by users. i wanted to post a 97 dollar promo code, but i know that violates the rules, and IMHO would clearly be an advertisement.

So after that i think this thread needs to be locked with the promo code removed.

And

No offense, but im sure hundreds of us would have taken advantage of posting these 97 dollar dreamhost promo codes if the forums allowed us to. Why? cause we would have nothing to lose, and the forums will be flooded with these promo code threads.
