It was a good book, though i don't look forward to seeing all that gore on screen. What are your complaints without giving away too much for those who don't know the plot.

I'm going to see it. But, like most Stephen King books that have been turned into movies, the movies don't do the books any justice.

i have never read the book but the storyline was COMPLETELY DUMB. it did nto make sense at all. it starts out really good and just gets really weird and stupid. the ending sucks. if you go to rottentomatoes.com i agree with every critic's thing that's up so far. i went with 2 friends and they completely agreed. if you want some cheap laughs, then at least you will get that.

i really coudln't believe the storyline....i dont' want to spoil the movie by going into it but it was one of the lamest storylines i have ever seen!! i'm very disappointed. guhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Ironic that two of the best adaptations.. Shawshank Redemption and Stand by me were both novellas in the same book.

Heh... starts out really good, gets really weird and then a stupid, sucky ending... so it's kinda like Signs, then?

I won't go see it... gonna save my money for Old School. :)

I have to agree, it was absolutely awful. I can't even remember a single scary scene. And the story... blah. I won't spoiler the movie... but if you had to take another form, why would you choose something mentallly retarded? Just so many holes. I agree with it starting out good... i love the premise. A group of lifelong friends goes out into the woods, and encounter something strange. "It's not where those animals are going, but what they running away from." Awesome... until the story progress, then it just got silly and stupid.

If i had to score it, i would give it a 3/10. I've never been a big King fan. Aside from Shawshank Redemption, i hated all his other movies, and this is no exception.

OMG I totally agree!! DO NOT SPEND ur money to watch this POS

the movie started promising... and then by halfway its just getting stupid...

but the thing that bugged me the most is that I kept waiting for the big "OHHHHHH" to come in later in the movie (u know when the movie finally unfolds together.. and all the bits seems to make sense, ala realizing that bruce willis is already dead in sixth sense), but the friggin part is that it NEVER CAME!!!!.. THERE ISN't ANY answer to the questions in the movie!!!

WHAT THE F*CK does SSDD stands for??

Jesus if the novel is anything like the movie, I wonder why it became a bestseller

Everytime I have ever seen SSDD used, it has meant that. It is so familiar that most people don't even bother saying "Same sh1t, different day," they just say "SSDD" and people know what they mean.

The first half of the movie, where they stayed relatively true to King's book, was great.

The second half veered drastically off course. For example . . .

SPOILERS

Jonesy didn't "morph" into an alien, Mr. Grey just used him to kill the people that got too curious. They got rid of some of my favorite scenes in the book, though, where Mr. Grey decides he likes bacon, and Jonesy uses that to slow him down on his way to the water pipe.

In the book Duddits did help stop Mr. Grey, but it was more of a psychic war of wills kind of thing . . . not the travesty that occured onscreen.

I don't know what cesspool they pulled the helicopter fight out of. I don't know why they couldn't have just kept it the way it was in the book. Maybe it was because Morgan Freeman is kinda old, his character in the book was still spry enough to fight on the ground.

Just saw the movie last night... I think the beginning was mysterious, which could make the film interesting.. but then one scene screwed it all up. For anyone who thought the movie is supposed to be scary and mysterious, it's not. I find it more hilarious than scary, I was actually laughing half of time!

***SPOILERS***

What do you mean? I haven't read the book, but in the movie, I was under the impression that Mr. Grey just took over his body... what "morphing" are you referring to?

I have to say that overall, it wasn't that bad of a movie... but what kept it from being a really great movie were the plot holes (like, how come they stopped hanging out with Duddits? ... I thought it was b/c he died or just left the planet, but evidently that wasn't the case) and the lack of development of the military characters (I agree the helicopter scene was ridiculous) Plus, I don't understand why Mr. Grey couldn't get into the secret room in Jonesy's Memory Warehouse b/c SSDD was written on it.

It was a decent, suspenseful (but not really scary) film... and I agree with Gilty- this movie was pretty funny

...I DUDDITS! :)
