Solo why pre october?

Because the ones made before November 2000 can play cd-r discs and supposedly the ones after that cannot. You figure out why that is important. :D

I haven't met a Dreamcast yet that couldn't play CD-R. I believe that rumor is just that -- a rumor.

I bought the bundle at CC and found a June 2000 console. Only one, though...the rest were Oct 2000 (which should still be OK).

Ordered one through KBKids earlier this month that was 79.99 for just the console, extra controler, and VMU (no games) and received an August 2000 one. So its not just recently made ones they are shipping. For this amount, I would take my chances and just try and get one. Besides, from what I read, you can get a post Oct 2000 boot disk that will let you burn backups.

Edit, I mean let you use burned backups. Dang, that would be sweet if the Dreamcast could burn copies ;)

Is it possible to get this deal at a KB B&M? There's one in the mall on my way home, thought I might stop by if they have the same packages.

I think the only ones that can't play CDRs are the black special edition ones, all of the creme colored ones play CDRs as far as I know.

Went to Toys R Us, they sold out just before I got there. Already priced @ 49.99 for the console, 79.99 for the sports edition bundle.

So I headed over to Best Buy and got the last one (!) for $79.99. Price drops to 49.99 Friday, at which time I price match and get the difference back. I wanted to make sure I got one before you hoardes all got there Friday morning :D

I sold my original DC a few months back. Kinda regretted it ... had all the accessories (kb,mouse, vmu, etc) and several original games. When I saw these great DC deals floating around, I knew I'd end up purchasing another. I remember how crappy I found the PS2 to be compared to DC, and I don't want to take a chance with X-Lax or KidCube. :D Even at 79.99, these are a steal. The games are phenomenal. I'm still a Crazy Taxi addict! :D

You get a .cdi file and burn it in Discjuggler 3.50.800.

I went to Funcoland today and picked up a new June 2000 Dreamcast for $49.99. Looks like the rumored price drop to $50 is materializing.

Does it need a boot disk and do you have any website references on it? I think if this is the kind of DC that suports CDR's I'm definately gonna buy it. Should I buy it from BestBuy though? Why is it gonna be $50 on friday?

Saw over a hundred DC consoles stacked in the aisle at the Mission Viejo, CA Best Buy today. Will be interesting to see if they sell out.

And Sony had an extra 14 months and a $100 higher price to their advantage...the PS2 is indeed disappointing when compared to the older and cheaper Dreamcast. Now, finally, the PS2 is getting some good titles released, but Sony is already heralding the death of the PS2 so they can beat MS/XBOX with PS3 Vaporware. Sheesh.

It's time to make some ca-raze-zee money!

Out of all the deals, the kbtoys.com deal is the best (except for potential shipping cost hazards). For $25 more than the standard $49 console price, you get an extra controller, VMU and 3 Sega sports games, including the class-leading NFL 2K1. Can't beat it.
