Dreamcast for about $100

I saw this on slickdeals and thought this may be better deal than one from an earlier post. The Dreamcast is $199. TWEC has a coupon for 25% off [coupon number deleted by AnandTech Moderator]. Then, Sega has a $50 rebate from their site: http://www.sega.com/sega/promotions/online_bonus.jhtml. The shipping for two-day was only $4.99 (I got that hoping that will recieve it before July 4th) and standard shipping is $2.99. I'm in CA and I didn't get charged for tax. Also those of you with Memolink assouncts should got thru them to buy, you get 5 points per $. Not much but hey you can use that to save up for an Amazon GC to get some accessories or games to go with that Dreamcast.

BTW: I forgot to mention the coupon expires today. They also have a few coupons for 20% off too if you do not make it in today. It would be slightly more but it still is a nice price. Also if you sign up for their newsletter I think you get a 20% off coupon, I got one but I am not sure if it's user specific so I can't post that one.

Hey, Mysterie, did you ever get your Dreamcast from Twec? I'm just curious how reputable they are, and how they are with shipping quickly. Thanks for any info! 🙂

I ordered the dreamcast from them on June 29th. First of all it took em 3 days to ship it. and finally when they did ship they shipped it by USPS instead of UPS Next Day Air, which i had payed extra 10 bucks for. so i had to wait 3 more another days to get yet. and don't bother emailing them becaues seems that their customer support never write back, and if u do hav a problem with them, they don't have a 800 # to call, so u gota call long distance NY.

but all in all dreamcast for 100bucks is't bad. i believe the 25% coupon as expired but there are still 20% coupon, so u can get a dreamcast for 110bucks (sega rebate, and the coupon)

WiseOne:
Which company are you talking about?

The one that has the 129.99 Dreamcast, or the original 1 in this post?

As far as long distance custmer service numbers, use dialpad.com for that...So what if your on hold, you'll be surfing the net anyway...lol

Getting ready to place an order for a dreamcast from this place... anybody know anything about twec.com?? it is a great deal..

how long did it take everyone else to get there dc's shipped to them? i ordered 2 with overnight shipping, it's been 24 hours and they still haven't shipped. is this normal?

I just got in contact with TWEC. We must of drowned them with orders (as the CS said "they didn't expect that many people&quot😉 so it looks like they are on backorder (apparently the warehouse comp. doesn't show backorder only new or shipped). I ordered mine on June 30 at 2:59PM (their Time). They said they should be shipping out soon this or next week. I hope they are I have a game waiting I got from amazon waiting to be played.

for anyone still waiting for their dreamcast from twec, i just spoke to a csr. they are expecting a shipment of dreamcasts in today, and they should ship out either today or monday. they actually called me at home to let me know that the item was backordered. kudos to them.

i agree. x-box looks like it'll be the best of the bunch. but then again, it's not out yet, and neither is dolphin or psx2 (i'm not willing to pay $800 for a japanese import). and i want something NOW!!

I have a question about this twec place (www.twec.com)? I looked all over their website for the 20% discount coupon on DC someone mentioned, but I just couldn't find it. Can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance.

bah, its the quality of the games that sells systems... picking a winner based on hardware specs is like deciding whether jeff gordon or michael schumacher is the better driver...

You get the 20% off coupon when you sign up for their newsletter. I'm waiting to see when to use mine. The one I got expires on 12/31/2000. The code is [coupon number deleted by AnandTech Moderator], since I see the same coupon floating around (saw it on Slickdeals, etc) it should just be one anyone can use and the one they send you when you sign up.

BTW: in reply to ElFenix's "bah, its the quality of the games that sells systems... picking a winner based on hardware specs is like deciding whether jeff gordon or michael schumacher is the better driver". I don't think it's all software. Just like with computers, if the hardware sucks then the software isn't going to run any better and vice versa. I believe the important thing is whether or not software company's feel like making a game worthwhile for the system, because they feel the hardware will be good enough for people to buy the game.

You know, its all about the games, never the system. But, the best thing to do, and what I have done before, is to just own all the systems. If you can pick up a Dreamcast for $100, then thats a great time to pick one up, its still a great system, not like a Jaguar or 3DO, it will have games. But I have gotten out of the consoles, I'm over 18, and there's just not enough time or money for them anymore. Its almost like an obsession, and I'm glad I sold my PSX for a lot of $$$ one christmas and bought me a BH6, 300a, and some ram. And the first person shooters..... who can play multiplayer goldeneye once you've played quake on a lan? All I can say is yuck!

anyone gotten their's yet? mine still says the order hasn't even been processed
number for csr is 1-800-540-1242, ext 7372 if anyone is wondering

i checked my order status today and the dreamcast is backordered. ahhh! i'm so pissed...i wanted to play soon.

got an email from them after threatening to cancel my order:

"At this time, we do not expect to ship orders for the Dreamcast System until
Monday, July 17. At that time, we hope to ship all orders currently in our
system for the product. We are very sorry for the long delay with this
item, however, we did not quite anticipate the sudden demand for this item."

sucks huh. oh well. so i wait an extra week to save $40. i guess it's worth it
