I might be wrong here, but you can't make backups without having some sort of special equipment to do it. The images and backups out there are made from some sort of image of the orignal games and are then able to be backed up. You can't just pop them in a burner and make them.

Oh, and I give this thread another minute or two before being nuked.

Backing up a dreamcast game is pretty complicated if I recall correctly. I would just look for an image on the internet or exchange the game for one that isn't scratched.

I've owned CD's for over 10 years, and they still work perfectly. As long as you take care of them, you shouldn't need to go around making copies.

I'm pretty sure you have to get something to hook it up to your computer so you can get the stuff off the Dreamcast. It's a pain in the ass to make them self-bootable so you have to make a boot disc. Just do a search on Google. It'll probably explain it better.

I believe you would need to use a GDRom reader. Not sure if DVD drive would work, but google would tell you.

If your friend has backups of the same games you have, you could try copying his backup copy to be your backup copy.

Think about how much time you will invest in making a working dreamcast backup and then compare that to the cost of buying new copy of the game, most dreamcast games are around $10.00 at bestbuy.................

Now that we've got that out of the way, there is no way you can backup your Dreamcast game. You need special equipment to do so. The only way your friends got backup copies of games is because they downloaded them off the internet ILLEGALLY. Go out and buy the games, they are $20 and less.

I've read some articles about Backing up Dreamcast games but I Have never done it before. They sell or you can build a serial cable that connects to your computer and you use the dreamcast system to read the data to your computer very very slow though. Then I read that you can buy the Broadband adapter and use that to read the discs to your computer at like 1MB/s. After that gets a little hazy of how to edit files and make it fit on a CD.

So in other terms if your disc is scratched and you dont know how to make back ups don't bother trying..
