yes there are plenty of genisis and nintento and gameboy games emulated to play on the DC.

Yes, people wrote programs to play VCDs and MP3 CDs. Here's links for more info, there also may be more programs out there that do the same thing:

DC MP3 player - plays MP3s from a PC hard drive using the DC broadband adapter, not sure if it plays MP3 CDs
DCmp3 - plays MP3 CD's, also will display JPG images on your TV
GYP Play - plays MPEG-1, avi (not divx), etc.
VCD Player ($29) - plays VCDs

I noticed there was an arcade emulator for DC (mamedc). Has anybody had good experiences with that? How slow are the games and what is the limit to the game size. I've love to play some mame roms on it, like Alien vs Predator.

I bought the DreamCast Sports bundle (with NBA, NFL, and Baseball 2k1) at Toys R Us. The unit was dated October 2000. Went home, tried a boot disk... nothing. It just stayed at the DreamCast splash screen until it gave up and just showed me the DreamCast menu (Play, Files, Music, Settings). I guess October is the cut-off for CDR-readable DCs.

I have the Sept 2000 console. However, I don't have a bootdisk (don't have the knowledge for it yet). In the case that I do make a bootdisk, can I use 700MB CDRs or must use 650MB?

Found a good spot for a few folks to score a new Dreamcast! I haven't seen this place mentioned in any other threads, either....

Sam Goody/MusicLand actually carries Dreamcast.Crappy prices on the games still...but my local B&M had the 49.99 bare DC, the 69.99 Sports bundle, and even had a SONIC bundle for 69.99 (for those, like my two-year-old, who love the spiky-haired hedgehog rather than sweaty athletes)

Get them while the getting is good!

Goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway...YMMV folks.

I have had the Dreamcast when it first came out in the U.S. It was like $299 when it first came out if I'm not mistaken...jeez $50 nowadays..

Some of the best sports games that I have ever played were on the Dreamcast. The NFL 2K and NBA 2K series simply kicked any of the PS2 sports games in the behind!

The thing I like best about the DC lineup is its awesome quirkiness! Seaman, SC5, Samba de AMIGO, JGR...the list could go on and on!
Couple that with Sega's cool ideas about add-on controllers, and it's a shame they aren't making them anymore, and no one will be developing for the DC.

Usually they use 700mb, ace. Some use 650, but it usually 79 minuntes or so, not by the mb

Yes, mine is dated June 2000. DreamSNES runs without problems.

mithrandir2001, don't be so quick to judge, I've bought over 20 games. :disgust:

The boot disc is very small, about less than a 10 meg file, there are several versions of it, one for nero, one for Disc Juggler and one for CD-RWin.
PM me if you need it. Don't PM for links to games though.

On another thread here and found it too good to pass up at $14 for 2 of them. However, I just read it all over and it uses IR instead of RF to transmit the data. Doesn't IR get easily interrupted? Dont you need line of sight to the reciever if its IR based?

Has anyone else bought these controllers? Any reaction to them? Should I just go with normal controllers?
They're on backorder, so i hope its not too late to cancel.

Yes and no. You don't have to point your TV remote directly at the set for it to work, but you need to adhere to a certain angle range. This controller sounds "risky"...I'd stick with the corded unless you need distance.
