Former "Sopranos" star Drea de Matteo is joining the cast of "Desperate Housewives," ABC confirms to Usmagazine.com.

The Emmy-winning actress will be a series regular and will play the matriarch of an Italian family who just moved to the neighborhood.

Her accent is only appropriate for her role in the Sopranos. Besides desperate housewives is and has been waning in popularity. This is based on the fact that I stopped watching it at some point early on.
