My gf has some CSI version on the other day (the one with Gary Sinise). They were trying to figure out some booby trapped penthouse apartment or something and I thought it was awful.

I don't think I could bare watching that without turning my brain off and just going with the flow (vs. trying to analyze their decision making process, thinking about what I would do to solve the problems, trying to decide if the rules of science are being followed, etc.)

Yeah that's CSI:NY which is very hit or miss. But we are talking CSI in general here, you have to turn your brain off to watch most of it. We aren't talking about The Soprano's here. you have to turn your brain off to watch just about anything on TV anyway.

I really wanted to be the lurker hero in this thread. But alas no combination of Office 2007, Nero 8, or Vegas 9 has the ability to turn a power point into a video. My Google search skills couldn't find a free way to turn YOyoYOhowsDAjello's into Youtube video without a watermark. Maybe I am a failure after all. <don't answer this! I already know the answer!> At least I tried.

Awesome job YoYo.

I have an easier time watching stuff that's supposed to be more out there / sci fi where it's a lot easier to go with the flow on things.

The last crime type shows that I watched were The Wire and The Sopranos as you mentioned. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

Sci Fi huh? So what's your choice of poison vis a vi Sci-Fi?

Thanks for the extra set of eyes on the issue, kevbot. 😀

I tried at work to use Adobe Captivate to do it, but I gave up after a lot of sync problems.

I'm pretty satisfied with the flash versions that I've hosted on my UW-Madison webspace though. There are a few playback issues, but they're not a huge deal really.

I'm a Star Trek nerd, so in the last few years I've watched TNG, DS9, and Voyager all the way through again. I watched all of Stargate SG-1 too. I have some other series on my list to go through too.

There are also the "not quite reality, but set in the present" sort of shows that I enjoy. LOST, Heroes, etc.

I'm in season 6 of The X-Files with my gf right now.

Unfortunately, some of these shows don't look so hot on a 102" screen or with their stereo soundtracks D:

You have a 102" screen?

Yes, yes I do.

I don't browse ATOT on it though 😉

Random small picture of it in 2.35:1 masking mode

Aww lol, I wanna be in part 3! As the lurk. Because that's all I do.

I'm with you on ST, as you can see from my username 🙂 Do you buy most of the stuff you watch or download them from Torrents? I've been planning on rewatching all of DS9 again soon (my favourite ST series). I finished watching through all of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis a few months back. I'm now watching SG:Universe. I'm forcing myself to keep up with Heroes but I'm not liking it. The series really jumped the shark after Season 02. Have you seen Farscape? I highly recommend it if you haven't, though you have to be in the mood for something a bit different (think Buffer the Vampire Slayer in space only better).

Very nice! Do you live in a detached house? I can't see how you could turn up that system if you didn't. I live in a townhouse and my neighbour complains if I turn up even my measly paradigm system. That screen must look Awesome with the right content! Though I'm not complaining with my 58" Samsung.

Well it's pretty simple... draw a picture and post it in this thread.

If I get the motivation to do a 3rd movie, I'll put all the pictures (or elements from the pictures) from this thread in it (starting with RedSquirrel's).

I you haven't watched this guy's videos, I highly recommend it if you've seen the Star Trek movies 😛

From the guy who did the Star Wars Ep 1 review from this thread

He also did the 4 Star Trek movies

I use Netflix. Now that I have a new projector, I'm finally going to up my plan to Blu-ray 😉

Farscape is on my list.

Awesome.

How did you know I loved lame youtube videos?

Just finished watching part 2.

It too was awesome, loved the background references being used in the frames 🙂

Are you my secret santa?

ROFL.

Intuition I guess 😉

Many of the backgrounds available in lame form from the ATOT T-shirt store that Crono started :awe:

(Prices are the lowest you can choose from the vendor but still kind of high unfortunately... no profits go to anyone other than spreadshirt)

If you like any of them, I have most of the higher res versions uploaded to bbzzdd if you want to upload one of the designs to a cheaper DIY t-shirt site.

I am aware of the T-shirt store, if anybody is not check YoyoYo's sig.

I may take you up on the Hi-res some day as I'm sure the postage would suck...

This is a 6-unit building. I try to be at least somewhat careful about volume levels, and especially at night. This place seems to be pretty well built, which is nice. Only rarely can I hear the neighbors playing loud music, so I hope they're enjoying the same relatively quite experience on their end.

Only once was there really annoying levels of music coming through to our place from one of the neighbors. I went around to their side of the building and it was totally obvious that they were blaring the music (from the level I could hear outside from 30 feet outside their place). It was pretty reasonably reduced from back inside our place, so I came to the conclusion that we're in good shape here for sound blocking.

I tend to play things back at -20dB to -10dB from reference (depending on mood and the actual content) and I haven't gotten any comment, complaints, or anything.

You are lucky. I've had to stick to early evenings and weekends to turn up the volume. It's not a huge deal though as I watch a lot of dramas which tend not to have the loudest of music. But for the occasion where you are watching something like the LOTR series it's really nice to be able to turn up the volume to REALLY immerse yourself in it all. I'm thinking off the top of my head of the Mines of Moria scene in LOTR. Boom.. Boom.. Boom..!!!!

Some day I'll be in some sort of house of my own and only have to worry about my hearing health 😉

Wow thats the best pic ive seen done in paint! The detail!

It is my hobby, have to spend a lot of time on it to get right 😉

I guess this means whoever makes the next movie (anyone is welcome to make one of course) needs to put that in now, eh?
