Drastic Fat loss, possible? (Advice needed for friend)

I have a friend of mine who has gone from 455 pounds to 385 in about 5 months. The last 2 months we have been getting his BF recorded (electrical scale at our gym). He was 47% W 455 pounds, and on Nov 9th he weiged in at

389.5 pounds and 36.4% BF (141.8 lbs Fat)

Today, Nov 20th he weighed in at 385.2 34.5% BF (134.01lbs fat)

So that's a 2% drop and almost 7 pounds in 10 days. Hes burning about 1200 calories a day on Cardio machines alone, taking EC stack, and eating 2700 clean calories a day, no carbs after 6. His strength is going up, do you think this is normal? Or should he do something to slow the fat loss down? His biggest fear is saggy skin.

In those that are considered "morbidly obese," this is not uncommon. However, he will want to incorporate some sort of resistance, even if it's just rubberbands or super light free weights to try to maintain his muscle mass through this process. If he doesn't, then he will continue to lose weight, but it will be both muscle and fat. We don't want his hard work to not pay off in the end, so we want him to keep as much muscle and lose as much fat, so talk to him about the resistance.

He doesn't NEED the stimulants and they may put him at a higher risk of some things. Since he has so much fat, he will lose a large amount of fat no matter what.

Congratulate him, be a support, tell him we say good job. We wanna see him healthy though, so let's try to minimize supplements and incorporate some resistance. This is my advice, although it will be questioned by some who endorse EC stacks.

I think he should slow it down. Losing that much weight in a short period of time, especially starting at a high amount of weight/% body fat, is not good, for the reasons presidentender and SociallyChallenged stated. He should cut his cardio activity by 50%, and stop EC stack. Calorie intake seems fine. Adding weight lifting would definitely help with avoiding sagging skin and also avoiding that starved person look that some people have when losing crazy amounts of weight at one time. As he loses more and more weight, he can gradually increase intensity, but at 385lbs he needs to take it slow, especially if he is at high risk for cardiovascular disease (and most morbidly obese/obese people are).

His effort is commendable, and progress is incredible. Encourage and help him to go for the gentler, long slope rather than climb Everest in a day (metaphorically speaking). There's greater reward and chance of keeping off lost weight when you take the scenic route.
