When I try to play games(AVP2, Ghost Recon) the sound is really messed up. It is very sloooow and laggy/choppy. The video/graphics are perfect and I have way over the min requirements. I have a Logitech Z540 5 piece speaker system hooked into the onboard sound just into the regular line in/line out jacks. I haven't installed the little card with the digital connectors because I dont know if my speakers have the right plugs for it. Also I have Return to Castle Wolfenstein and the sound works perfectly on it. Please help me!

Thanks

I turned off hardware acceleration in control panel and turned off eax from within the game and the sound is still screwed up.

I'm assuming you have loaded all your mobo drivers.

What version of directX are you running? You tried the DirectX diagnosic utility?

Yes I have all drivers installed. I am using Directx 8.0 because Ghost Recon would not run with 8.1. Dxdiag reports no problems.

assuming all your connections are good etc, it really sounds like a driver issue. Mine works flawlessly in W2K. Have you tried looking at Device Manager in Safe Mode to be double sure all your devices are co-exisiting? Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers etc?

Device manager shows no conflicts. I had the most current drivers from the cmedia site. I tried uninstalling them and then installing the drivers from the soyo site. It didn't help. Should I just get a new soundcard?

What vid card are you using? I am getting a similar problem but only after I play a DVD then go into the game. (UT also) My microphone input is way too quiet as well. Its not a mixer issue or a settings issue. On the C-Media site they say that the center channel subwoofer channel and microphone all share the same output? Go figure...

New sound card time! Wasted my money on this sound option although the Music and DVD sound very good.

I'm using a Gainward GeForce3 ti200, as stated above. Music and DVD sound great on mine too. I want to be sure getting a new sound card would solve the problem. Anyone else's thoughts?
