Hope some one can help - New rig built a 1.533, silverado cooling fan, amd with 2x256 crusial mem, AIW ATI 8500, second NIC, 50 pin scsi for tape backup system.

One long beep and then shut down.

Any help would be appreciated

using the soyo dragon + motherboard? shoulda read the manual budy😉 There is thermal protection for that motherboard. You must hit like shift and insert when booting (something to that affect, read the manual).

What he said, but the insert button only.

That being said. Make sure you CPU fan is plugged into the CPU1 header. For some reason it needs a fan that rmp senses. If it don't you'll need to get into your BIOS with the insert trick and disable that setting.

Make sure you press the insert button as soon as you hit the power button though.

Post back when you get it going. I have a question.

Just an update - psu was not plugged in, reseated memory for the 5th time - it then booted.

Thanks for replys

I was a little mistaken on what I said. Press the insert button and hold it till you see the page where you can enter the BIOS.

Edited to add:

How loud is your fan on you motherboard? Is it loud, or is it just mine?

Glad to hear you got it going 🙂
