Dragon Age

Sweet trailer, but I'd wager its going to be toned down *a lot* before release. Not sure what the rating is on DA, but that trailer will put it firmly in the Mature range.

Holy shit that was the best trailer ever. I am now interested in Dragon Age and plan on buying it upon release.

(That wasn't sarcasm, even if it may have sounded like it)

I have a week spot for Bioware <3

Anyway, the blood was nice and all, but I hope they back it up with decent plot and dialog.

Neither could I, but the action was still sweet.

So far as I know, the game is still pending a rating from the ESRB. I imagine EA will want it to pull a Teen rating. Teen is akin to PG-13 for movies, widest possible audience.

They could do it. Just take out the language and the Sexual content. Violence could still stay pretty strong.

Hm, I dunno. Their recent big PC games have been rated M, and it looks like the are trying to ramp up the violence/sex in this game..

One has to get that as well, less Jack Thompson becomes angry. Did The Witcher not also axe the dismemberment and gore?

Exactly what the hell has everyone so excited? That wasn't even gameplay. Scripted scenes from any game can look awesome.

I love Bioware and I'll be checking out Dragon Age, but how is this trailer anything other than vanilla? The only thing they get props *for* in that trailer is Marylin Manson in the soundtrack.

Wasn't that just for the original US version? They can always sell an M version to the rest of the world so we can grab a UK copy.

Exactly, every other trailer looks sweet, I'll wait until I see a game play video to pass any judgement.

The Manson song was the weakest part, it grated on the ears and distracted from the cool scripted scenes.

Only the US version of The Witcher was censored. International versions were normal, which it seems a large percentage of US residents bought anyway through various e-tailers.

Plenty of M rated games out there which have done well on the market. In the end the gameplay and storyline will determine if this game flops or not. So people can relax with the "ZOMG THERE IS BLOOD!!" remarks.I doubt Bioware would of released this trailer only to remove the blood and violence completely from the game.

Ummmm......does anyone really care? Bioware isn't trying to appeal to the kiddies here with Dragon Age. It is after all their own IP and the reason they ditched the WoTC license in favor of creating their own IP with DA had to do with how they were heavily censored and restricted with plot elements by those in control of the IP they used for their previous CRPG games.

They are not going to do that IMHO. This is their baby they've been working on for a long time. This is what they wanted to do story wise with their games for ages but sadly were restricted for the most part since they did not own the IP for their previous CRPG games.

The game is certainly interesting, and I do plan on buying it (it's BioWare, that's enough for me), but that trailer in particular is absolutely nothing special, and is surely far, very far away from being the best trailer ever.

I'm with this ^

There's something about the visual design that really puts me off... I'll be waiting to read some reviews before making a decision on this one.

Man that looks great. I can't wait to see Fox News' reaction to that game after their ridiculous reaction to Mass Effect

Definitely looking forward to this game.

I never saw that clip - how generally bad.

There IS some sense in their reaction - describing how parents need to pay attention and be involved in the things their kids see. The trouble comes in when they make the leap/assumption that ME was more or less choose-your-own-porn. Silly sheep.

Back on topic, the trailer was action packed, certainly, but I'll wait to see gameplay vids.

agree

I hope the game is interesting. Watching the trailer looks like previous video I have seen of the game which leaves me thinking it looks like the original NWN. The graphics don't appear any better than NWN graphics, and it actually looks like the same engine so maybe they just made minor improvements to it (although the Witcher did a better job of updating that engine IMO). That said, the graphics won't matter that much (they aren't horrible) if the storyline and gameplay is actually good. I just hope it isn't like NWN where the campaign was really bad; and more like Mass Effect where the story was good enough to make you play through the boring repetitive gameplay.
