You make me sad. Similar game play from Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate II? BG II is superior in all ways except graphics. I have played Dragon Age, beat it even, and enjoyed it. But it has nothing on BG II.

Awful interface, and bad old D&D rules. Not superior to much.

I've gotten spoiled at being able to set up the user interface the way I want it: A lot of older games are just a pain to play now. And D&D rules were always a murky hodge podge. The move to computer should have helped that, but not in this case - if my most recent playthrough of BGII was any example.

I did beat it but it was not really that good.

I think I enjoyed and played Gothic 2 much more even with its flaws and somewhat crude mechanics.

Right now playing Risen on and off and it is very similar to Gothic 2 i guess.

Fallout 3 is another option.

I would recommand those 2 before DA due to the openness.

I like WOW, and was a big fan of the earlier Final Fantasy games (II, III, IV, VII, VIII). I don't have all the time in the world, but wouldn't mind a nice new fantasy game to spend some time on. Worth it?

Definitely worth it. Like many said it's like a dynamic book you're reading but you still have some decent choices in the story that keep some dynamism.

Combat is fun and somewhat strategic. Sometimes you can just rush in while others you have to position, kite and be careful.

Nice customization with the different classes and specializations. Nice skills for each ones.

The game can take you 40-80+ hours of playtime so I don't know how much time you'll have on your hands to play but it's certainly doable with a couple hours here and there, it's only gonna last you longer than a player who plays 5-6 hours a day.

For it's low price now it's a sure buy!

Don't listen to the haters. Dragon Age is an excellent game by any standards. It's probably the only game released in the past 3 years that I have played start to finish instead of getting bored half way through.

Too many Barbie Doll mods, too few quest mods. I would say if you can find Dragon Age for a low price then go for it. It would have been nice to actually get the 2 years of DLC we were promised originally by Bio.

this. the mods are mostly made by horndogs. very little worthwile content is available, unless all you really need to "improve" your experience is copious elf cock, dwarf tits, and extended porn scenes.

the original game is quite good--but limitations for me are

1: limited exploration. quite linear, but not as bad as it could be. sometimes too much freedom is confining in itself. way too time consuming--I'm looking at you, Morrowind.

2: some missions/areas are really tedious. much of it is great on the first play through. but certain missions--the mage's tower and the dwarven city region--are a pain if you want to replay with a different character. There's actually a mod to skip the entire mage tower and even retains all of the stats and points you would have gotten playing through it. I highly recommend that on a replay. :D

Picked up the ultimate edition when it was on sale on Steam 1-2 months ago.

Lost interest about 75% into the game, but my interest in video games isn't what it used to be. (Loved BG/Icewind Dale series, FF series, etc.)

There were aspects of the gameplay that bugged me. To sum it up in one sentence, I'd say that the game is just too complex for more casual gamers like myself. Tactics system, invetory, equipment, crafting, skills, spells, etc. There's just way to much of it. Maybe I'm just too old for this $h1t. At some point I just bulldozed my way through the game because I was tired of scanning my entire inventory after every quest to make sure I have the best stuff equipped, re-doing my tactics to make sure I'm using the best spells, etc. I don't even know what what half the stats in the game did . . .

Good game for you young whipper snappers out there, but I'm getting more casual I guess and didn't like all the options, customization, and whatnot there was in the game.

For these same reasons you listed are the reason why I got bored with Two Worlds 2 and Divinity 2 after several hours. Then I think back to how much more I enjoyed Dragon Age. I think it's the strategy and ability to pause gameplay to plan that made it fun for me.

Someone needs to combine the world of the Witcher with the gameplay mechanics and dialogue of Dragon Age. The endless ripoffs of Tolkien's fantasy universe are getting a bit much.

I have both Witcher and DA and want to start one. Which would be good to play first? Oblivion is only sword game I ever played.
