I'm super-psyched about this game coming out on Wednesday. Bioware has never let me down!

Plus, EA was kind enough to upgrade my pre-order for the collector's edition to 2-day air... for free! 🙂

It looks good but I'm trying told hold off on getting it for awhile. Depending on reviews tomorrow, I might break down.

I've heard good things about this game too. I'll def. be renting it, hopefully I can get it from blockbuster on Wednesday.

I'm definitely intrigued by this game. However, MW2 comes out next week so I won't have much time for any other game.

I wish I had money. The best time of the year for games and I'm poor as hell. Damn the economy. I really want this game too. Been wanting a good RPG for a long time. I was too disappointed by Fallout 3.

Picked up a copy this morning at Fry's. Now I just have to get through another work day before I can play.

At work so I can't see any gaming sites - how are the reviews looking for the console versions of this?

Metacritic has the 360 version at 87 and PS3 at 92. I've heard the PS3 version is "better" fwiw.

LOL. The 360 version is lower because Destructoid gave the game overall a score of 75 and Worthplaying gave it an 80 without specifying the platform. However, metacritic did not assign the Destructoid or Worthplaying score to the PS3 but did assign those scores to the 360. In fact, the Destructoid reviewer prefers the PC version saying, "This game probably should not have been released on the PS3 or Xbox 360"and the Worthplaying review is not high on the console version either.

You're assuming I heard the PS3 version was better by guessing based on the metacritic reviews.

The Xbox 360 version looks positively disappointing. Textures are highly compressed and colors are washed out, though the upside is that this version maintains a smoother frame rate than on the PlayStation 3, where things might get jittery when swiveling the camera around. The PlayStation 3 version features higher-quality textures than those on the Xbox 360, better color saturation, smoother facial animations, and shorter load times. Minor visual hiccups, like corpses that disappear and reappear, are a bit more common on the PS3, however. The PC version is the superior experience, but if you're choosing between the two console releases, the PlayStation 3 has the upper hand. Some minor glitches are shared between the console versions, however, such as rare occasions when the soundtrack or voice-overs disappear. We also ran into a few quest malfunctions that could be replicated on all three platforms, though they were relatively minor and did not interfere with the progress of the main quest.

Well, that's what happens you put the Metacritic scores up for comparison and then don't put up any other evidence to support your argument.

what kind of combat is in the game? Is it turn based? Realtime? or a mix like Mass Effect?

A mix, but more like KOTOR (or Baldur's Gate, even 😉) than Mass Effect. You queue up actions but you don't 'press X to swing sword.'

darn, was hoping for a hack and slash. Mass Effect at least had the option to turn it into a 3rd rate 3rd person shooter like GoW. I really enjoyed playing it that way though :/

Since when could you turn this off, I thought it always played like a 3rd rate shooter? I liked mass effect a lot but the combat was the one big turn off for me, so sick of every game trying to be a shooter nowadays, I'd take turn based any day in a party based game.

If my PC wasn't bollocks I'd go that route, but it looks like it's PS3 for me if I want to play this any time soon.

I've actually heard that PS3 has better textures but has a really bad framerate. At least that seems to be the consensus.

I have both PS3 and 360...Laptop can't run it I don't think (C2d T5800@2gig, 4 meg ram, Geforce 9600M GT)

I'm too scared to get it on any versions. Wish there was a demo.

I spent hours playing the 360 version last night. Textures are not amazing, that's for sure, but the game is fun as hell.
