Hi,

Is it possible to drag a maximized window across multiple monitors? If so, how?

Thanks.

Which OS? Win7 automatically un-maximizes a window if you drag it. I'm not aware of any way to drag a maximized window from monitor to monitor. There are utilizes that can move the app to another monitor.

Weird. When I just enabled the multi-monitor setup, it didn't allow me to drag the maximized window - it'd stay maximized. Then I tried again after a while and it worked. Oh well, thanks!

Hmmm, here on my work system (duals, Win7), any maximized window restores before it will drag. Word, FF, Acrobat, all behave the same.

But if you simply move the maximized window from one screen, and touch it to the top of the other, it automatically maximizes on the other screen. The window will be in the restored state during the actual move, but why is it important for the window to remain maximized during the move?

At first I didn't like the auto resizing properties, and my GF hates it. But I often have a window I would like to enlarge, but I don't want it to take the whole screen. By grabbing the very top or top corner (when the curser is a double ended arrow), you can pull it to the top, and the window will automatically fill the vertical space without affecting the horizontal size. This includes a window that has been moved down so that the bottom below the screen- the bottom will become flush with the bottom of the screen when the top it brought to the top. Now, since the feature is disabled on my GF's machine, I find it flustering when I try to manipulate her windows.

Ultramon allows you to move maximized windows to other screens. It adds a button next to the three top right default Windows buttons. Also adds a menu item and can be hotkeyed.

Ultramon is not bad, but Actual Multiple Monitors the best choice and has freeware edition, which supports necessary to you feature. Try it.
