GTO has a great interior for a sports car though. Leather looks great and you can get it in red or blue too and it's standard. 350Z interior is nothing to brag about. Top gear ripped it for the flimsy interior. They didn't like the GTO interior much better, but they fell in love with the car. It's in the latest episode. And it gets 30mpg highway.

I did say it's a better track car didn't I? You said it's cheaper, which it's NOT.

The Z interior was changed in '04.5, the top gear guys had a '03.
Pictures don't convey what the GTO interior is, which is crap. Go sit in one and tell me otherwise.

The Z build quality is crap compared to the Z. I'm a Nissan fanboy, and I bought a GTO over the Z. It was cheaper, faster, more comforatable and not plasticy feeling. I paid 26,900 and got 2.9% financing. The Z, with leather and the SAME type of options was 3K more and no financing deal.

The "leather" seats are just that, leather. I don't see what the issue is there.

Also, 2 months ago is when the dealers started deal on the GTO's. they sold 50% of all the goats sold in Aug and Sept. That is when the dealers stopped the markup.

I looked at the Z hard, as I really thought I wanted one. Until I drove it, sat in it and futzed around. There is no value in the car, and Nissan thinks they have a goldmine. I thought about the new mustang too, but the GT models are going for 30K, and the interior is inferior to both the Z and the GTO.

I didn't say it's cheaper MSRP. I said it's cheaper out of the door if you add leather to 350Z and take into account the rebates that pontiac has. I'll go sit in one, but I really don't think it's relevant to this type of car. It looks great from the photos, so unless something falls off when I touch it, it's fine. I could see if you said the seat was not supportive or it had bad seating position, but things like how does the dash sound when you knock it are irrelevant to a sports car.

The HVAC knobs are quite loose and feel like they'll fall off after a couple years. I agree that for a sports car interior quality usually isn't a big deal but I don't think that's acceptable for a new car. This isn't the 80s anymore.

being a Z owner I'm biased. However most people buy these cars as their only car. This is going to be your daily driver so interior important. If it was a track car then it wouldn't be. which is why I said the GTO is a better track car.

This thread is becoming evil

Chill guys, have a . I think it's great that there are quite a few performance cars out there on the market for us to choose. Enjoy it while it lasts, because with petroleum over $50/barrel, who knows how long this muscle car resurgence will last :(.

For the Cobra fans out there, I've heard that the SVT division of Ford is not doing so well financially and the bean counters are looking at it pretty hard. They already postponed the Lightning indefinitely and pushed the Cobra back. Let's hope there will still be a Cobra.

I'm hoping they cancelled the Lightning to cut corners to get the cobra out.

Biased? No way. :D I happen to think the interior of the Z is crap, and the GTo isn't. I bought the GTO mostly because I loved the interior. Anyway, It is also nice to have a car that you can fit more than a t-shirt in. :)

GTO is a better daily driver with 4 seats. It's better on and off the track. If you watch that video, the Mustang gets beat by GTO, 350Z gets it's @ss handed to it by the Mustang. You do the math.

I drive a 96 Maxima, and I am a Nissan Fanboi. But frankly the GTO is a better car than G35c or 350Z at the same pricepoint. Nissan needs a Turbo version, because they sure as hell can't fit the Titan 5.6L engine under the hood to match the GTO's 5.7L :D

I should mention that I have 3 other cars. A '92 Maxima that i nothing but a toy, I've got several high dollar mods including a auto->5-speed swap that I completed myself. Also in the flock is an '84 Porsche 944 and an '80 Impala. All great cars for different reasons.

GTO got caught asleep at the tree :p

Stock GTOs pull 13.6s at their best. I'm willing to bet that car could put out a better run.

people complain about Pontiac sports car interiors. FIrst off, I dont think they are that bad. My new GTP has leather seats and the drivers seat is powered and heated. Secondly, when you are talking sports cars...who cares?

Not bad considering the Mustang and GTO are v8's, and the 350Z is a v6 (unless that one was TC'd or SC'd).
The 05 Mustang is fugly IMO.
I drove the Z once and loved it. Liked the interior also.

They have a 4.5L v8 in the FX, etc. The FX and 350Z are based on the same platform I believe.

I'm an old Pontiac guy, the only think the GTO is lacking is distinctive styling. Even that has it's advantages though, since it makes it a real sleeper.

oh yea, and ultimately the new Mustang is a better platform for drag racing. It's easier to add horsepower than it is to lose weight.
