Dr. Watson - user.dmp

Under Documents and Settings\all users\documents\Dr Watson directory I have crash dump file, user.dmp.

So take it user.dmp is just there, Watson automatically creates this incase of a crash, it doesn't actually mean there is a crash? Because when I opened Dr. Watson, drwtsn32, and looked at it, in the 'Applications Errors' window it was empty.

THANKS

It normally means there was a crash at some point.

But then wouldn't information stay in the 'Applications Errors' window for me to view what had happened, whenever it occured?

The thing is there is no log file, only the dump...

I find this odd, I've been using XP since it came out and I've had many crashes over those years and Dr. Watson wasn't creating dump files, but then again I'm not a programmer interested in debugging either. So in SP1 & SP2 did Dr. Watson have the box checked to 'Creat Crash Dump File'? It's always been checked by default in XP?

THANKS
