Dr. Phil is an opertunist who only the small-minded adore and whom the world will look back at in 20 years and giggle.

why wait 20 years? He's good for a laugh now - and that's about it.

He's not even a fricken Doctor.

:Q

I didn't research enough. I was told a while ago that he isn't a real doctor. but his site bio says otherwise:

Dr. Phil has a B.S, M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from North Texas State University with a dual area of emphasis in clinical and behavioral medicine. He has been a board-certified and licensed clinical psychologist since 1978.
Believing what one is told simply because it contradicts someone who is a public figure is a common fallacy.
To quote the good doctor....."So how's that workin' for you"?
Read his book(s) and then form an opinion. To base anything resembling a cogent opinion from JUST a TV program is ridiculous.
I won't waste my time with his books. I think his show is ridiculous enough. I've been told by numerous people, whom i trust, that he was not in fact a doctor.
So now that it has been proven that it was an error to believe those people, perhaps the basis for the opinion that he is ridiculous is also in error.
Given that a 60 minute TV show barely has time to cursorily examine the topic de jour, it stands to reason that a book, with the depth of fact checking and references that someone must do to BE published just MIGHT have a bit more going for it.

i've seen numerous shows. I used to live with an older couple and the wife watched the show all the time.

Based on the show...it isn't worth my time to read the books. Simple as that.

You know theres gonna be a Dr. Phil sex scandal its inevitable. Opportunists like him and O'Reilly eventually hit a dead end

Every episode he has the answers for the guests -
"If you read my book.... chapter (insert number here) tell you how...."

It's an infomercial.

one of phone pranks done with his quotes was pretty darned funny... not quite as good as those legendary gateway ahnulds but still worth mentioning 🙂

He's a blowhard. That's not to say that some of the stuff he says is valid, but still the fact remains that he's a blowhard.

I didn't think of him at all until I heard that he had a diet book out. Considering that he's a fat psychologist rather than a trim dietician, he lost all credibility at that point. I'd say he's just a male version of Oprah who does whatever he can to stay in the public eye and make money.
