I think he just exploits "issues" with families and really doesn't do shit. Also some times he gives me an impression hes a woman and not a real guy...

I think he often says a lot of good stuff, but my opinion of him went down when he, in his considerable girth, came out with a weight loss book. That showed me that he was just in it for the money, or not as smart as he thought he was.

I couldn't figure that one out. I'm going to take weight loss tips from a guy that looks fat?

He's nearly as authentic as Dr. Laura...who incidentally, isn't really a Dr., nor does she have a Ph.D. What a fakie....people will listen to anybody who's on TV or the Radio like they're God in this country.

He's ok. Some things I agree with and others I don't. I don't really watch his show much though, mostly because I can't understand how people will air their dirty laundry on national TV to get pretty much common sense advice.

Well, at least they get home improvements for appearing on his show. I guess I could make our family look pretty awful for a chance at getting our home redecorated. Then we could go back to normal... except all our family and friends would think we're nuts... but hey, free furniture AND no more guests. Sign me up.

I didn't research enough. I was told a while ago that he isn't a real doctor. but his site bio says otherwise:

Dr. Phil has a B.S, M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from North Texas State University with a dual area of emphasis in clinical and behavioral medicine. He has been a board-certified and licensed clinical psychologist since 1978.

Believing what one is told simply because it contradicts someone who is a public figure is a common fallacy.
To quote the good doctor....."So how's that workin' for you"?
Read his book(s) and then form an opinion. To base anything resembling a cogent opinion from JUST a TV program is ridiculous.

Dr. Phil is an opertunist who only the small-minded adore and whom the world will look back at in 20 years and giggle.

I would rather be a distinguished gentlemen and reveered by few, than be an opertunistic and reviled by many

He's doing what Kathy Lee Gifford did many years ago when she was on Regis with Kathy Lee. By that I mean getting her family on TV at every opportunity possible.

I won't waste my time with his books. I think his show is ridiculous enough. I've been told by numerous people, whom i trust, that he was not in fact a doctor.

He has a PhD... That makes him a Dr.

Dr. Laura has a PhD also... Although it's in biology, not psychology.

Btw, what's so bad about their shows... Why are they "ridiculous"?

If you looked at my post, i corrected myself. I posted his creditials and that he is, in fact, a doctor. Thanks for pointing that out....again.

I honestly don't care enough to get into it. IMO he exploits peoples problems for ratings...and does little to help remedy the situation or offer solid advice. if you disagree with my opinion, that's great, that's why it's an opinion.
