Dr. Pepper 10 - it's for men (who can't do simple math)...

That's some magical math. lol.

I've always sort of wondered if the whole super-low-calorie soda thing is done purely for the marketing standpoint. Pepsi One being the best example of that. Does that minuscule amount of sugar really make any difference in the taste?

I don't understand diet soda. Fake sugar offers nothing but bad taste. I'd rather drink water. Also diet soda is not manly. In fact it is quite the opposite.

It seems that diet sweeteners taste terrible to people that are used to sugar, but after a while that almost reverses and regular stuff tastes bad. At least in my experience. I really don't drink soda in general anymore but I remember finding myself liking diet over regular for some reason I couldn't really comprehend.

Now... corn syrup v.s. sugar is another one. When they started selling Mountain Dew / Pepsi Throwback, I took a liking to it. I really prefer the taste over corn syrup... but many people seem to dislike it. Corn syrup is more sickeningly sweet to me, seems most like it that way though.

I don't really drink soda anymore either. I still like rootbear and I get it occasionally but I realized a while ago that soda literally offers you nothing. It is bad for you in everyway possible outside of actually poisoning you. It's the equivalent of smoking cigarettes except you get diabetes instead of lung cancer. I wonder what would kill you first 12 cigarettes a day or 12 cans of soda?

I'm thinking the cigarettes are probably going to win that one though.

12 cans of soda a day is overkill for anyone. Hell, that's pretty much an entire days worth of calories for a lot of people. Personally, I don't mind diet sodas much as I get caffeine without drinking a nasty cup of coffee, with 0 calories.

Where cigarettes are simply harmful all the way around, sugar, in moderation, can be satisfying without being terrible for you.

No one should drink 12 cans of soda a day though, as they leave no room in their caloric intake for nutrient filled meals.

I know someone whose diet consists of nothing but soda and maybe half a meal a day's worth of string cheese or sandwich meat. His excuse is that he can't afford to buy more food than that... while buying 20oz sodas at the gas station for $1.50 every single day.

I've tried explaining to him that if he would stop spending like $8+ a day on soda and substitute that for food he'd be able to eat normally no problem, and also that the diet he's on is not an effective way to lose weight as he seems to believe, but he won't hear it. Thinks starvation and completely fucking his blood sugar is the way to go.

Yeah, that is completely nuts. For myself, a case of diet coke (24 cans) is $6, which works out to $0.25 per can. If I have a few a day, that's no more than a buck or so tops. I enjoy it, but I don't enjoy soda enough to spend 1-2 bucks a bottle at a convenience store.

I love the taste of Diet Coke (and some of the other diet sodas, but not all). I can't stand the high sugar level of non-diet soda.

I liked Pepsi One a hell of a lot better than diet Pepsi. Too bad they stopped selling it.
