If May was a total and complete lockdown this could have been nipped in the bud. But nope can’t let the cure be worse than the disease
Trump got that from some goon on Fox News and parroted it in a tweet, imbecile that he is.

Objectively, a 2-6 week lockdown would pummel the virus. It dies outside the body. To survive it needs to be communicated. Unfortunately we do not have national leadership worth a crap.

Why should you be leery of vaccines? https://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/adjuvants.html
"Aluminum salts, such as aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, and aluminum potassium sulfate have been used safely in vaccines for more than 70 years. Aluminum salts were initially used in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s with diphtheria and tetanus vaccines after it was found they strengthened the body’s immune response to these vaccines. "
I'm not really sure the statement that the vaccines were strengthened is entirely accurate. Adjuvants containing aluminum were used in vaccines because they greatly reduced the amount of the vaccine needed for a prophylactic dose.
From the NIH - "Aluminum is an experimentally demonstrated neurotoxin and the most commonly used vaccine adjuvant. Despite almost 90 years of widespread use of aluminum adjuvants, medical science's understanding about their mechanisms of action is still remarkably poor. There is also a concerning scarcity of data on toxicology and pharmacokinetics of these compounds. In spite of this, the notion that aluminum in vaccines is safe appears to be widely accepted. Experimental research, however, clearly shows that aluminum adjuvants have a potential to induce serious immunological disorders in humans. In particular, aluminum in adjuvant form carries a risk for autoimmunity, long-term brain inflammation and associated neurological complications and may thus have profound and widespread adverse health consequences. In our opinion, the possibility that vaccine benefits may have been overrated and the risk of potential adverse effects underestimated, has not been rigorously evaluated in the medical and scientific community".
Some years ago aluminum intake was linked to Alzheimer's so could part of the rise in cases be from vaccines or is it just because people are living longer? Hard to pin it down I'm sure. Full disclosure - I am not a anti-vaxxer. I last had a flu vaccine in 2004. The last time I had the flu was 2004. I also got a pneumonia vaccine the same year. Do note that with the flu vaccine you are increasing your chances of getting the flu. The same is true with the shingles vaccine. I probably will choose to get a Covid vaccine after it has been proven to work.
Pretty much anything can be shown to be toxic under selected circumstances. Everything in life is a trade-off, and I most certainly would consider a vaccine proven to provide immunity to Covid to be a no brainer trade off compared to the remote chances of some toxicity.

I think there's also a certain element of holding back to let other people go first & be the canaries in the coal mine. At least I hope so. It's just as well, at least at first, because demand will outstrip supply & vulnerable people should be at the head of the line.
I'm vulnerable and I'd take a challenge vaccine shot today.

This country and its culture do not have the politcal will, personal will, or societal will, to do what is necessary.

This is the new normal, and it's not even all that bad, compared to what it could be during the flu season.

40+ years of "government is the problem", "rugged individualism" conservatism has made selfishness the new US Patriotism.
And that in itself is a disease of the spirit that we have to get over. Don't think it impossible because it's not. We've been infected with a psychological disease but it's not basic to human nature, it's perverse.
