I've been thinking about buying some new dress shoes. I told some co workers, and they recommended Dr Martens.

I've been looking at various shoes and all of them have really THICK soles! The casual shoes I've been looking at looks like platform shoes.

If you own some, do they wear out fast? The design looks good, but the soles are just way too big.
 
they'll last longer than you'll want to wear them, for one thing. also, for boots, they provide pretty good impact cushioning. heavy as hell, though.
 
They last forever. I have a pair still that I bought in 9th grade, so that would be about 9 years ago. No holes in them or anything, still look fine, and I wore them allll them time.
