Surprised there is no thread on this.

Guess no ATers watched it anymore so it was time for the show to go.

Lisa Edlestein announced she was leaving a couple of weeks ago and now Hugh Laurie and the other Producers decided to scrub it.

Lisa is hot, look forward to her popping up on another show soon.

Dr. House hangs up his Fox TV stethoscope

ox's medical drama "House" is ending its eight-year run this season. The show's producers, including Emmy-nominated star Hugh Laurie, said it was a "painful" decision but that the time had come to bring "House" to a close.

The season finale date for "House," which airs 9 p.m. EST Monday, was not announced.

It's a good show but it's run it's course. I still watch it but have lost interest the last couple of seasons. It's time for it to go.

You obviously haven't watched the show in the last year. No surprise, too, that you felt commenting on something you know nothing about.

Lisa and the show couldn't agree on contract terms last Spring, so the Producers announced back then that the show would only be on one more season and would be ended. It has about 4 or so episodes left and that's it for House. I, for one, will miss it.

She hasn't been on the show at all this season.
(Unless "a couple of weeks" = a $10 gallon of gas, then we just use the mcowen conversion.)

I noticed she hadn't been on but only saw the Hollywood blurb that she didn't renew a couple of weeks ago.

That was probably the beginning of the talks that the show is over.

We are expected to go over ~$5 again here in Chicago by Memorial Day.

Not to worry you'll only be paying much cheaper around ~$4.50 if not here.

Lisa left a long time ago and there's no surprise about this being the last season. They've been talking about scrubbing it for a long time. Here's an article from last May saying:

Lisa Edelstein will not return to 'House' for the show's eighth (and probably final) season.

Season 8 is expected to be the last for 'House.' Series star Hugh Laurie is only under contract for season 8.

[The] end of that season [8], right now, looks like the end of the show," Laurie told Radio Times.

I dunno, after the last episode, looks like they're grooming Dr Chase to replace him now that he's also a cripple. 😛

Dude, "cripple" is not the preferred nomenclature.

I always liked it but I'm out of the loop since the end of season 6 I think? Whenever it was that he had to amputate the woman's leg trapped under a collapsing building. I'll absolutely pick up the remaining seasons at some point to watch though.

I really love season 1 and 2, but I think since then it's gradually begun to hop the shark more and more. I think the cases are usually pretty interesting still and the writing on a 'micro' level is still amusing and enjoyable but it's the larger plot turns that got kind of out of hand. Like season 3 bugged me especially, the whole conflict between the cop and House just seemed inhuman to me; though it's been a while since I've seen it. Then Kutner's death (admittedly that was probably rush patched in when the actor up and left) and the bus incident and the hallucinations and Taub's silly bullshit, it all seemed kind of over the top to me.

I thought the 'rehab' episode was incredibly well done though, and it seemed like having House actually deal with his addiction reminded the writers that he's still a compelling character without all the crazy stuff.

I hope they just give it a proper ending at least and not just leave it like any other episode just in case contracts get ironed out.

I've always enjoyed this show. I wonder if they knew ahead of time enough to make a really interesting series closure, or if it'll just stop on a normal season finale with a cliffhanger...

House is still one of my favorite shows on TV. It'll be a shame to see it go. The larger plot has gotten a little more ridiculous, but the individual episodes are still really good. It's probably better to give it a proper ending now, though, with House, Chase and Foreman all still together, and Wilson still around. The replacement teams were never as good as the first, with maybe the exception of Thirteen and Taub.

I still enjoy House even though the current episodes are nowhere near is good as the first few seasons. It's better than most of the other mindless bullshit on TV, especially now that EVERY job or talent is deserving of its own reality show these days.

yeah i still enjoy it. i'm guessing since they decided to end it in the middle of the broadcast season the series finale will be a standard season finale.
