What's everyone think about the new Socialist Obama slipped in through the back door? You know, the one that gives speeches about redistribution of wealth?

This guy is very enamored of the health care system in the UK.

Although he will not face a confirmation hearing unless he retains the job after the end of 2011, it's widely rumored that he would not have passed the muster of even Democrats. That in fact his confirmation hearing had been put on the back burner for political reasons. Whether that is because he was too controversial, or perhaps Dems didn't want him hanging around their necks with elections coming up (or both) is subject to interpretation.

In a White House statement announcing the recess appointment, Obama charged that the confirmation of Berwick and two other nominees he was naming by recess appointment at the same time had been delayed in the Democrat-controlled Senate by unnamed persons for “political purposes." “It’s unfortunate that at a time when our nation is facing enormous challenges, many in Congress have decided to delay critical nominations for political purposes,” he said.

If it was for "political purposes" and with the Dem's in control of Congress, well, the reasons become obvious.

Gibbs Evades Question of Whether Obama Agrees With His Medicare Director That Health-Care System Must Redistribute Wealth

I can see November from my house.

Just keep one thing in mind, when someone talks about redistribution of wealth it doesn't mean it's going to the poor. I get really tired of people bitching about paying for medical, housing, or subsistence payments to the poor. If you're going to bitch at least bitch at the people who are actually recieving that wealth.

For example people on Medicaid don't receive a dime. The money goes to the health care industry and Medicaid is the puppy mill of health care. For the vast majority of Medicaid doctors a few losses here and there are perfectly acceptable, it's the volume that matters.

That's correct, and I made a point not to bring that into my post. Yes, it's a common practice. I do however expect this topic to degenerate down to essentially a shouting match of Bush did it too.

That's not the issue. My post is not about the manner in which he got the job. The issue is that the man holds views that the mainstream consider extreme. In addition Democrats are apparently unwilling to endorse him. Obama however, thinks he's the greatest.

I'm not looking forward to a health care system modeled after the failing system in the UK. But we seem to be x number of steps behind the developed world lately and are hell bent on repeating their mistakes.

Agree. I just threw it out there before the shouting started to pull the teeth. And, like you said, Nov is right around the corner.

Watch the video and listen to his drivel which hits point 1 square on the head where he verbally jacks off to England's socialized healthcare.

Are you talking about John Bolton, Ambassador to the UN? The same guy who had congressional hearings and was fully vetted and who would have been approved by the full senate but wasnt because the committee wouldn't release him for a vote? Figuring Reid wouldn't even give this guy a hearing because then the Dems would have to defend his views, while the republicans wanted a hearing scheduled, its not even close to being the same.

Very funny too that the Senate Dems are trying to act outraged when they could have scheduled hearings on this dude, they have total control. The Dems know that this guy's comments would make him toxic, like Van Jones, so they just aren't going to have hearings.

This is the most ethical congress/administration ever. Transparency!!!

Wealth has been redistributed quite a bit in the US over the past 40 years, but it's mostly been from the middle class to the upper class, which noone ever seems to complain about.

Getting better and better. If I didn't know any better, I'd almost believe Obama was deliberately marching his party off the high cliff for November. Then again, he's not that bright. Most radical ideologues rarely are.

Let's assume for a second the guy actually is a socialist (not that there is really anything wrong with that, but I digress)

Medicare and medicaid are socialized medicine, I would think it makes sense to have a socialist in charge of it.

I'm just sayin...

If you look at most of what he said in context it's really not that outrageous. Mainly he pointed out that there has to be some kind of rationing or cost/benefit balance and health care, and that insurance companies are already rationing care in their own way. Since it's already happening he said the process ought to be more transparent. His redistribution of wealth comment was a little disturbing, but he's hardly the nutcase that some people make him out to be. Then again, would you expect anything other than breathless hysteria from someone who's signature claims the American left is bordering on fascism?
