DPI on TFT

I am looking to buy a 24"/26" TFT in January. I mainly play racing games and currently use a 24" CRT (22" visible). My eyes are 18" from the screen.

I have recently heard about display lag caused by scaling hardware. Does this mean if I run at native resolution I won't have that problem?

If so then here is my 2nd question:

I can get a TV style TFT which does 1368 x 768, but that is perhaps too low a resolution for sitting so close. I would have to use FSAA.
I can get a PC style TFT which does 1920 x 1200, but that is perhaps too many pixels for my graphics card for some games.

Can anyone recommend a 24"/26" TFT which does a native resolution somewhere in between these two extremes?

perhaps save up for a nicer video card or run with lower settings.
lower resolution on a big screen can make it look coarse close up.

Dell P1690 - it's good but occasionally has some flickering due to dry joint(s) so may need replaced soon. i'm thinking january sales..

i have a 320mb 8800GTS. if i wanted to run SLI in future, could i pair with a 512MB 8800GT as these are more available and sometimes cheaper?

if so, would it just run at the speed of the slowest card? and would it only take advantage of the lowest common denominator memory a texture-unit wise?

I just realised if I sit 18" from a 32" screen, the side edges of the screen will be at quite an angle, but it should be less than 45 degrees. But what about the top and bottom? I have heard some panels have no viewing angle from below. Does that mean I might not be able to see the top of the screen if I sit that close?

Having set my existing CRT to the same dot pitch as 1360x768 on a 32", I think 1080p would be my best bet. But can 1080p TVs display 60fps? If not, then I am back to looking at PC monitors again...

(also how do PS3/XBox users manage with just 30fps if that is the case)?
