DPC D2OL takes recognition

over at the Dutch Power Cows they are starting to talk about TA or AnandTech in their forums, it looks like they are trying to add systems to make up for our sudden overwhelming daily output, my dutch isn't very good so I can't make out a whole lot. They are even quoting our forums!

I know someone in here has to know dutch...would love to know what they are saying...but hey...we got them on the run..that is the important part.

Im half dutch and I know how to read it, if someone could give the link I could translate it.

Im feeling like a spy 🙂.

The DPC are a force to be reckoned with. Don't be surpised if they put up a big fight.

[edited to add]
They are also know for saving up and dumping. I don't know if that works well for D2OL though.

unless they know how to change it, the gui/normal windows version will only let you cache 100 according to the slider in the properties, but i think you can "trick it" into cacheing as much as ~190 candidates

how long that would last depends on the speed of the box, but i would guess that for the average box, it would only last about 1 week

but i guess you could do a multiple install, get the caches all full, then just run one until its cache is depleted, then run the next install and so forth. seems like a WHOLE lot of extra work to me, i am not a fan of the save/dump just for fun thing

Well mainly they are concerned about us and are gathering new computers. I would expect their daily output to increase but nothing like ours 🙂.

Let them Cows do thier thing.. 🙂 We have our own mission to accomplish for now.. building the best team in the world and MAINTAINING it! 😀 I think no matter what they do they will have to rob Peter to pay Paul, so it will hurt them to shift too much. We need 100 more nodes and then we will be invinceable as long as everyone sticks with the project.

Onward and Upward D2OL! 🙂

Well, if they are still as organized as they were back in the heyday of TA and DPC RC5 competition, they could output a huge amount rather quickly. They are an amazing team when they want to dominate a particular project. (Our weakness/strength is our spread out mentality. We do just about every contest a lot, whereas DPC tends to dominate one contest and dabble in the others).

Well they havent gathered much at least their are not telling it on the forum but if their doing something behind the scenes it very well could be something that will put them to the top.

Don't underestimate DPC.... their main focus until recently was RC5, with that over and RC5-72 still aways away, and the way they are organized... they could easily ramp up and outproduce us probably 5x or more

I wouldnt underestimate them, but since they have at least 250 days lead on us in production I dont think they will get in a hurry, and another project may catch thier eye before they ramp up. All they would accomplish right now is akin to running up the score in a lopsided game. Surely they will want to see us up there with them to make it a real race... 🙂

DPC added 15 new members today with 36 added nodes. They are moving, but hopefully we will continue to grow.

Another thing to think about.. they have 866 nodes putting out about 3.5 cands per day average.. we have 192 putting out 24 average. Just think if we had 866 putting out an average of 24... Killer Dudes. 🙂

I wouldn't worry; we can take them 😉
BTW, my primary system (Node 11724) is ranked #4 for the day 100 Candidates.
The thing that surprises me is that it is only an Athlon XP 1600+ on an nforce.
I guess the Linux client is a lot better than I thought. I am running RH8 fyi.

Nooooo! Your going to pass me! 😛 I will get you back once I get this duron and celeron up and running with linux. Hmm now considering switching my two 2000+ XPs to Linux. Hmmmm

We need to get the people who defintely produce into to the top 100 to change their handles to include the TA that was discussed yesterday so we can really show DPC our production!😉

RemyCanad: you just wait...
I only have 4 Nodes atm, 1 AXP 1600+ Desktop(RH8), and 3 AXP 1700+ Laptops (WinXP).
I will be adding more as time goes on.

You already have more computing power than me. 😛 I stand no chance! So I guess I will just half to draft you as we move on up. 🙂
