How do Results and Mpts relate to one another? (i.e. What are each of them?)

Just curious because i was just lookin at my #'s and i noticed that my results seems to be higher than those around me with ~ the same Mpts. How do they correspond to each other?

aphex,

"results" are simulations. Each result = 1 simulation. Each simulation yields a certain number of muon particles. It's the total number of particles that determine how "efficient" the transfer is.

Fact is... some designs suck - some don't. Since the client does optimized, random, and mutated simulations - your "mileage" may vary. The better your results.dat file (NOT results.txt) - but results.DAT... the better your optimized simulations will be.

Does that help any? 🙂

So, in a roundabout way, your saying my rigs are trying hard but sucking? 😀 hahaha

Once your results.dat has reached a nice full - level (i'm guessing 1-2MB?) with a wide-spectrum of designs present you can expect from 19000-21000 Mpts out of each 100KB file....

while your mileage may vary that is what i've discovered with one of my remote pcs that dumps every 2 days.

my home pcs do a once a week dump so i couldn't use that as an estimate either 😉

but essentially the more muon particles that "succeed" by remaining in the simulation the more MPts...but these designs take longer. A short /bad design doesn't take a long time..so while u get less mpts..its directly related to the time invovled as well.

confused yet?

🙂

Just look at [TA]z ... he has thousands (actually second most in [TA]) of results, but mostly his results didn't have many points in it so he's just in place 8. If u really wanna know what points u get, I recommen using Muon Calculator. Just keep in mind that sometimes the last decimal has to be moved on place to the left (1000 = 100.0 points) 😀
