DPAD - How can I check whats going on in my local machine?

I haven't been in here in a while, but I've noticed that apparently my DPAD units arent registering? I've had my computer on for six days, muon1.exe has had 146 hours of CPU time and I have nothing uploaded. How can I check what my local machine has in terms of units? Thanks guys.

I'm still a newbie myself to this ,but maybe the viewresults.exe in the DPAD dir will tell you what you need to know?

It would be nice if there were a DPAD equivalent to SETIspy ,I've often no idea how well my rig is crunching DPAD inbetween uploads.

Anything like that about?

Assimilator1, Thanks - That did show my results. I found manualsend.bat in the directory also, so I ran that - hopefully tomorrow i'll be in the stats. Thanks 🙂

There should be a .txt file in you DPAD folder called resuts.txt The larger the file, the more results it contains. Are you running the cli, cause it's much faster than the gui.

I'll post links to utilities for keeping an eye on the DPAD client and the results when I get home. You can use something like DC Monitor.

my results.dat file is almost 10MB 😕 does that mean they arent uploading?

edit: I'm running CLI

edit2:
sendlog.log: (last three entries)
20040509-051324 92 results sent to muon1.superstring.org
20040603-010038 107 results sent to blank-it.dyndns.org
20041231-135602 13 results sent to stephenbrooks.org

I'd assume the last line is the manual send, but only 13 results?! It's been running for six days straight, not to mention every time I turn my computer on its running (since 06-03-04, it seems), 13 results just doesnt seem right.

to monitor results on my dpad clients i use muon results viewer which i find really informative and easy to use.

as for your results, you are reading the sendlog.log file correctly. its stating that on 12/31/04 you sent 13 results, on 06/03/04 you sent 107 and on 05/09/04 you uploaded 92. im gonna go out on a limb to say that there is no way its been running this every day since 06/03/04 but your results.dat file is huge compared to your uploaded results....

results.dat (when you first fire up the project) is about 1 mb in size. with every result you process, the results are appended to the end the results.dat file (you can see this if you edit results.dat using wordpad.

results vary from computer to computer so to try to estimate what a certain cpu will get for output daily is really not an accurate science. however, i do think you should consider updating to the latest DPAD CLI and starting fresh from here. i dont know what happened to all your results from 06/03/04 until now, but something was either wrong in that it hasnt been uploading or it was never running to begin with.

Hey thanks for that client monitor app🙂

Isn't there at least a broad range of output you could expect from certain types & speeds of cpu?

Wannafly
No probs🙂 ,hope you get it sussed out!

Take a look at the "sendlog.log" file also. This is a record of what has been sent, when it was sent and to what ftp server.

Yup Unforgiven is always on hand with the plan 😛

Happy New Year to a fellow Seattlite

OK you can also try DCMonitor. 😉

'DCMonitor can monitor multiple clients for the ECC2-109, Distributed Folding, Distributed Particle Accelerator Design, Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search, Search for Extra Terestrial Intelligence, Folding at Home, Seventeen or Bust and LifeMapper projects. DCMonitor uses a tabbed interface, where there is a tab for each of the supported client types.'

or You can try Muon Monitor 😉

'Muon Monitor is a progress monitoring tool for the command line client of the muon project by Stephen Brooks. Additionally it has configuration and result file editing features which also work with other client versions (background or graphical client).'

Thanks for the info and links everyone. I've upgrade my muon program to the newest version. One question..
I have two files in the DPAD directory:
20040909-234745-8WrfS-[TA]WannaFly.txt
20041124-003334-qh0Hn-[TA]WannaFly.txt

Could these be my missing results? they are almost 100kb each. I tried renaming them results.txt and doign a manual send but it said something about a bad checksum. 🙁 I just want my credit for the past 3 months heh

those could be them. you did the right thing in renaming them results.txt and trying to manually send them. with a bad checksum did it not let you upload or did you cancel it or what? as i recall, i had a bad checksum before and it let me upload the results anyhow but some of them were not counted....

They are indeed results that wasn't sent. I'm not sure about the bad checksum, I had one or two with the same problem, but I just deleted them. I'll have a look on the DPAD forums if there's a way to get it working again. You could also post on the DPAD forum if you like. 😉

Anybody else have any ideas?
