I thought I'd saved a txt file on how to use it but I can't find it, & the author has no website about it. (its the util you use to trim the result.dat file)

The large results file is slowing down bootup time.

TIA :)

I did a google search for muon1datautil and downloaded it. There is a "version change" file, but no help.
A quick test seemed functional. I set it to write the results that had been checked 5 times, then clicked the "Filter file" button. It asked for the file to modify (I picked a copy of my current Results.dat), then it asks for the output name. I typed in "mod-results.dat." It immediately created an 88kb file from my 1400kb file, and sure enough it only contained about 20 high value files. I tried a few other options and got seemingly appropriate output.

Where it seems to have trouble is discerning between Negative results and Positive results.

Yea I found the 'version history' too but its no help.
I thought it was you who'd used it before but I guess not;) ,maybe it was z? I know someone here knows how to use it.

Negative as in bad results? that would suck if it was keepign poor results!

Thanks so far anyway :)

I just tried it without creating a new file & it just wipped the 60MB file clean! ,great!:frown:
That's where instructions come in handy:p ,I'll do what you did next time Jon.
Am I likely to of lost much?

I've always found it better to dump the results.dat file when it gets big, anyway. You haven't lost anything that won't just build back up on its own.

Yes, negative results aren't worth much. Very few Mpts, too many Muons lost too soon. The only good setting I found in the muon1datautil is the "keep only the results checked 5 times" button.
