crappy way to happen, but it sounds like you are rolling with it OK. I know I am too far for any sane week of driving. Have a cool trip and keep us posted.

Bummer. A lot of the knowledgeable shops around here closed too. I hope you reorganize to continue the good fight of information. Not saying I want you to be our personal wikipedia, but this forum can get kind of murky(ATOT) without regular intervention.

You're a pretty good haul from me, and I'm assuming you have all the bases covered, but if for some reason you need an ally in Columbus, OH, you've got one.

Yeah, the 240z is just a beautiful car and I am very much a lover of the fairlady line. I hope to grow a collection myself though I know it will take a long time, especially with how the older s chassis Zs will grow in rarity as the years go by. I love meeting other Nissan guys on forums, especially when I least expect it (such as here on AT).

I have my 86 NA Slicktop right now and I am trying to bring it to almost new condition. So far I have only rebuilt the engine and installed new front struts and power steering, but I have all new/great condition interior parts coming in as well as new brakes, rear struts and springs (have them already actually), and I will be having the syncros replaced in the transmission as well. I don't know why, I just really love the body styles and the feeling I get driving these older Z's. I am trying to get a z32 for my girlfriend too actually to get her interested as well, haha.
NA Z32 is a great chick car! You can find autos that have been driven by ladies in great shape in the 4k range with few issues. Still a fun car to drive too. Look up unicorn Z and see my all time favorite chick Z
Sorry to here about the shop, I've noticed you haven't been around lately.

Thanks man, Should be around more since I am down to just one job and not three lol

whats the price on the Z31?!
trade you paint and body work!!!!

Have a few friends that have asked but if you really want it I would LOVE for it to go to a person who could finish it and not abuse it.

🙁

I did drive the Z32 and it was sweet. The low end torque and smooth pull really made my WRX feel wimpy and made me yearn for more power.

I'd have to cruise in the Z if I were you, although the S14 a close second.

If you want to come to Carmel next weekend you can drive the rb20s13 and the vette! Would be great to grab lunch if you wanted. I spend alot of time with the kids now so a little break would be great!

What about the 818? :hmm:

Still a few years away for me for sure.

And the Z. I'd love to own a early 70s Z and restomod it with a VQ35 or RB26..
240z with a Rb would be freaking awesome and is on the list of eventual builds. I have literally been looking for a clean 240Z and I get foiled by rust EVERY TIME

If I ever do find a clean one I would probably just restore or keep it a survivor with bolt on modern brakes etc so I could part swap it back to complete stock since they are so rare.

I totally want to build a factory five kit sometime in the next coulple of years. It really looks easier than most swaps. Whichever decision I go with I plan to buy a donor car and assemble parts within a year!

Damn it! 🙁

Now that I dont have to worry about all those customer cars I can finish all of mine at least. Bright side at least!

if you end up shooting west on 74 Ill buy you a beer man. its just a 2 hr drive 😛

good luck sorting it out and moving on
Thx man, luckily my family and a some consulting and translation keep me busy. I also do some sales so I am technically always working. Thanks for the beer offer! I do spend alot of time on 74 so may be soon! Likewise if you ever make it into indy beer/coffee on me as well!

Sorry to hear about the shop. Hope you land on your feet. Take care of your family first, especially the young ones.

Thanks man, Like you I always hold family first. I get by with my hobbies by usually eschewing sleep!

Think I mentioned earlier in the thread I hope to open a car dealership when my kids turn 5. Nearly four year old triplets are a handful. Wont really know what to do with myself when they go to school. I am sort of a hybrid stay at home parent I guess, My sales job is about 3 days of travel so I keep kids in day care three or four days a week and work from home the rest doing an odd translation or granite deal. If you ever need 12 slabs of granite let me know! 😛

Its too bad you're so far away. Jlee and I would have drove by for the weekend just to hang out and shoot the shit. Fridge and TV, right next to the lift heh. Heaven.
We just need faster cars and a national campaign to make all the interstates autobhans !!!! Whos with me!!!

Had two buddies help me get the engine in the vette in a driveway. First time I really missed shop.

Thx man, really a perfect storm during the busy time of the season. Have learned much and moved on. Should have just gotten a brand new GTR instead two years ago 😛

Took a weekend trip with the wife this weekend and plan on doing a little walkabout in the next few weeks by myself. Dont plan on planning much. Just going to get in the car and go. Bringing a few books and trying to convince myself to leave the cell phone but I gotta always be on call incase something happens..

You guys remember when you could go on vacation without knowing what a cell phone was and email. You could actually get away back then. Now we are always tethered......

We have lost something.....

Still have that DSM? I'm looking to buy one.
see below post /smiley

Would make someone a hell of a car. If you really want to go back down the dsm rabbit hole I got some parts for you! Really enough to do three nice engines. Roller already has welded diff, fuel upgrades, guages, respray two years ago stored inside since. Comes with a set of Kosei racing ultralights and a head built by Jim Stewart. Did trade my two shep trannies and motoria intakes.

dude, no. bad timing.

Sorry to hear about shop mandinga. +1 to what exdeath said. I also have noticed you not being around lately.
Best of luck on your new venture, keep us posted how it goes.

actually good timing!!! I have a nice roller and four DSM engines that I need to get rid of!!!! Man I gave away so many parts in the last month my friends dont know what to do with themselves. The cool thing is I also traded a bunch of stuff that I was going to give away or scrap and ended up getting a bunch of really cool shit!! Lets see got a AR with acog sight, benelli tactical, 3 sets of rims, a lq4, a t56 and a bunch of other stuff. I think I have a trading sickness. I think I enjoy the trading more than selling.

best if luck, and if you slide through Denver, let me know.
Thx mang!

One of the most fun/harrowing experiences was driving trough denver in my old mr2 in a snow storm trying to get to Chicago for a gig. Every time a truck would pass me on the downhills at 80 or 90 + they almost pulled me off the road so I ended up driving faster than they did but boy things were slippery.

thx man! It has been a rough 10 years since the recession for auto and speed shops in the midwest. Gasoline alley near the speedway isnt half of what it was a decade ago. Some of the best shops specializing in engine work here in indy closed. So few of the grand masters left.

Likewise on a indy trip! Look me up! I do check out your craiglist section for deals all the time! If you ever need parts or a car looked at here let me know!
