The nutrition dept at my job put up a display showing actual portion sizes of thing like candy bars, soda, pototao chips, french fries. they compared portion sizes of today with those of 20 yrs ago.No wonder people in this country struggle with their weight, our portion sizes have almost doubled in 20 yrs!

I'd say the recent trend of having the sizes of these products reduced is a good thing for all of us!

I have noticed over the years that large bags of potato chips have stayed the same physical size, but the weight has shrunk so the bag is now only half-full.

I have noticed a plethora of food stuffs that have a package lable of a certain volume but actually contain much less.

For instance:

Coffee
Cereal
Frozen vegetables
Frozen meats
Chips
Spices
Pasta
Bread

I have been noticing this over the last ten years or so.

Are you suggesting the packages don't contain the weight marked on the package? That's pretty hard to believe.

Have you actually done any measuring yourself? If not then please do so. Don't take my word for it.

I sure wouldnt.

because if it was true they would be in for one hell of a lawsuit.

No, just don't do things to deceive the customer.
If your going to change the contents then change the packaging as well so the customer knows he is getting less.
Don't use tricks to make the customer think he is getting the same amount.

Things like, changing package shape, so the customer doesn't notice it easily, are deceptive.
