They just covered this on abc news, about how manufacturers are quietly shrinking packages of things like cereal but raising the price. Food companies don't deny it, just say the cost of raw goods is higher.

So what products have you noticed that have shrunk ?
For me:
Cereal
Ice cream, appeared to be half gallon, was 4oz less
Coffee, was 16oz, now 14oz.

I'm sure there is more

fresh, leafy greens. i feed my iguana kale, collard greens and cilantro as a daily diet with other fruits and goodies mixed in, but the greens bundles are smaller by 2/3 and the price is either rising or staying the same. i used to feed him on about 6.50 a week, now that is over 11 bucks. pisses me off. cereal is like that, thats why i refuse to pay for those. ill buy a 54oz bag for the same price as a small box of trix any day.

Yogurt is surely the worst offender. Within a few months you will pay $0.79 for a thimble-sized serving.

cereal boxes are annoying as they have long been constantly changing the size. There are basically three or four ROUGHLY standard sizes with variations between brands.

It happens to every item in the store. Manufacturers try to hit a certain price point like 99 cents. If they can't do it at 16oz they drop the can size to 15oz, then to 14, then to 13.5 etc. Once they can't shrink things any more they up the price and the process starts all over again. Try to find a 1 pound can of anything. Coffee is down to 11oz, pet food about 13oz, veggies about 14.

For sure. Got a 8 or 10 pack of them the other day and almost laughed when I opened one up. They may as well start labeling the regular packages "Fun Size" or "Snack Size" too!

I have noticed a plethora of food stuffs that have a package lable of a certain volume but actually contain much less.

For instance:

Coffee
Cereal
Frozen vegetables
Frozen meats
Chips
Spices
Pasta
Bread

I have been noticing this over the last ten years or so.

Canned cat food..

I think tuna fish might be shrinking too...plus the aforementioned items (ice cream/etc).

My fucking caviar tins are mad shrinking in size! Seriously, I used to get 7-star Caspian Sea sturgeon for $600/4 oz, and now the 4 oz cans are only 2 oz yield! WTF is going on? I bet the caviar ain't even 7-star anymore!

Yep, I thought I was the only one who noticed that as well. The Easter Reese's candy is decent sized, although a bit more expensive.

I have noticed over the years that large bags of potato chips have stayed the same physical size, but the weight has shrunk so the bag is now only half-full.

Are you suggesting the packages don't contain the weight marked on the package? That's pretty hard to believe.

Haha, stupid rednecks. 600 pounds of fatass eating up a roll of sausage in a tube and a couple dozen eggs.

You know once in a while, I wonder if its worth it to spend all this $$ to live in CA, then I hear people like this and think, oh yeah it sure is.
