Downloading pic via CF card reader vs. directly from camera

I'm curious from a tech stand point I could not see transfer speeds be any quicker via a USB 2.0 Card read than from a Camera (that of course supports USB 2.0 as well). The only way I could see a card reader being pretty quick would be if it were connected directly to the mobo via an IDE cable or if it's built in on a laptop...Anyone have any thoughts on this how the speeds differ?

Not sure about data speed. Though I do know that the speed of the card itself is much slower than IDE or USB 2, so I dont think it matters much.

The card readesr are usually faster. Also, less wear and tear on the camera's ports.

Yeah I think it's more about convience than anything else so far after reading stuff up on it...I think the card speed itself will probably play a bigger role than either...

Speed isnt so much an issue as having yet another cable to contend with, and clutter up your desktop.

Internal card reader...FTW
