Download issues

I am trying to install linux on my computer running windows 2k via Wubi. The problem is when it is trying to download files for the install it download painfully slow, around 1Kib/s. I can download other stuff at my much higher normal download speed. Is there any way to get around this or get a faster mirror for the download? Thanks in advance for your help.

What version of linux? And what method of download?

The best way to download a distro of linux would be to use a torrent (IMO) because it keeps the data verified while generally providing pretty good speeds.

[edit] Saw the reference to Wubi. I would suggest not doing it that way. You will have much better success dual booting rather then installing all the programs on top of windows (Yikes). just look up an ubuntu dvd

just download the iso manually and stick it where wubi is putting its download. The installer will find the iso and assume that it had downloaded it previously. Also, I wouldn't recommend wubi if you're using a raid array for the boot drive. just...fyi.

Cogman: I'm pretty sure wubi leaves you with a dual-boot setup.

Just installed Ubuntu with wubi a few days ago, it just automates the dual boot install from Windows
