The Beatitudes

1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,
2and he began to teach them saying:
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are those who despise Blink 182,
for they will inherit heaven.
10Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.

wait blink doesnt write original music? who thought that up?

anyway, blink and NIN both suck. so does LTC, catch 22, bouncing souls, and any other bands ever listed here. a fall farewell, taken, poison the well, and from autumn to ashes are better than all those bands.

btw if u didnt catch it, it's stupid to argue which bands suck or not. because it'll always come down to everyone's own opinions anyway. unless you're sheep.

Well said. Hey MrElusive, ask your father what he thinks of Trent Reznor and the NiN. He'd laugh in your face if you said they were in any way original or talented. Then ask your grandfather what he thinks about your father's favorite music. Notice a pattern here?

I like NiN better, primarily because I don't care for punk rock. Me not liking Blink182 doesn't negate the fact that they are talented musicians.

If I gave a sh*t about what morons like you told me about new music, I'd still be listening to Beethoven.

Someone's into hardcore 😉 It all depends on preference, background, etc. Break the chain, don't h8 other peoples music 😀

<< Anyway, I just don't like NIN, they have a weird techno-ish sound that doesn't appeal to me. (at least the stuff I've heard is that way) >>

Errr... it's called "industrial." 🙂

<< Not a huge fan of either... Tool, Distorted Penguins, a lot of others... none of the pop crap. >>

17 Albums is pop crap..

I don't like either, but I voted for NIN cause Blink 182 is too damn annoying. But IMO both bands suck, but that could just be my preference. 😉

For punk I like bands like Big Wig, Belvedere, Fighting Crime, and Pennywise... I like some hardcore too, Poison the Well isn't bad. I especially enjoy John Petrucci and Dream Theatre though, awesome guitar there. I also enjoy listening to Good Charlotte, Goldfinger, Suicide Machines, Incubus (excluding Drive, Pardon Me, etc), Guttermouth, Hi-Standard, Pearl Jam, and all the stuff by our fellow AT member MIDIman. 😀

In the current day - 2002 - Blink 182 kicks NIN down the lane. Pretty Hate Machine was a fantastic release in its day (1989), but I think Trent's a bit washed up now. It seems the Blink-haters are upset that the band sold out and now play this new catchy power punk pop that is so eminently enjoyable to listen. They may not be original or innovative, but Blink 182 are a fun band with a life-affirming adolescent attitude. I've heard "The Mark, Tom and Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back)" dozens of times, but the antics still crack me up. And "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" is not mass-produced drivel...it's probably their finest album yet.

Blink: Alt/Pop-Punk
NIN: Industrial/Rock

Like saying who's better, Jimi Hendrix or Dizzy Gillespie.

To answer your question, however, I went to the Pop Disaster Tour on Saturday.
Blink 182 was the "headliner" and they sucked huge donkey balls. Watching a couple infantile punks *try* to sing in front of 30,000 screaming 12-year-olds was not my idea of a good time.
I don't think any of those guys in the band are capable of saying anything intelligent to save their lives. Plus they suck live.

Mithrandir2001: I think you're mistaken. Blink 182's producers are great, because they can make these no-talent jackholes appealing to the masses. Put them outside of a studio and you have something very different. There was no other adjective to describe their performance besides "horrible." Bad mic setup, off-key singing, jokes in bad taste, non-acknowledgement of the fans, etc...

Green Day was a different story, which I'll save for another time..

i voted for blink 182

i loved dude ranch

hated enema of the state

haven't given take off your pants and jacket a chance

but me no likey NIN

you do realize, you don't have to listen to their music, right?

btw, if you ask me, NIN sucks your grandfather's balls.

Trent Reznor is a truly gifted muscian. However, both band play music that appeal to different markets. Anyway, my sig should speak for itself.

<< NIN has come out with 17 albums. I could name them all if you wish. >>

17 releases maybe but they were not all albums.

None of Reznor's stuff tops Pretty Hate Machine though.
