I've narrowed my laptop choice down to two:
The Acer Travelmate 281XC
The Compaq Evo N1015V

Both have the features I'm looking for bnut the Acer is about a 150 cheaper.
Can I get your opinions on them? Thanks!!!

Between the 2, I'd go with the Acer. The 13.3 inch screen on the Compaq is unacceptable in a notebook of that size.

Maybe it's just me but in the past, i have disliked compaq's products - quality wise, i dun feel they're up there. And their service sucks.

Ironically, they hooked up with HP - another company i hate, mostly for their annoying designs.

So basically, i'm really not into any product that these (now this :)) company makes....

Acer, on the other hand, is my growing favourite...especially for laptops. I've heard great words from ppl in recent times especially. Toshiba is a classic in laptops. IBM - never used them - but i've been told they're good as well, a bit pricey though. Dell - they're good but their designs suck and currently they're pretty slow to welcome centrino. They've got a Pentium M machine and all but really, when u compete against the likes of Toshiba and Acer and even Asus, u gotta do more than what they've currently done.

From a service standpoint, I would go Acer. Unfortanetly we don't see many Acer's coming back for repair, especially compared to Compaq machines. You will probably get more software updates with the Compaq, but my experience with Acer's tech support has been really good.
