How do they own 5 mcdonalds?

Can any restaurant just join the club kind of thing? Didnt know it worked like that

You have to pay a franchise fee. It's an annual fee and it's not cheap. It does cover things like advertising, creation of new menu items, optimal restaurant layouts within a given square footage, graphical designs on bags or boxes, sponsorship's for things like the Olympics or the NFL. I mean the list goes on and on.

Franchises offer a lot of things that most small business owners can't afford on their own but it does come at a cost. Not necessarily a monetary cost that's a given but also the ability to make decisions about your business. Such as how it should look or whether or not to offer free refills on soda. Don't like "I'm Lovin' It" as a slogan? To damn bad.

Installed a furnace for a couple that owns 5 McDonalds. They gave me a stack of 50 bigmac vouchers. I can proudly say I have only eaten one of them and my sister/nephew have eaten the rest.

Saved a few bucks though. How they eat that shit is beyond me.

im not sure u got a very good deal there. one time i replaced my furnace, they sent a dude named ray and as soon as he got to my house he told me he would do it for $500 cash if i told his company that i didnt need the work done. so i went to the atm and got him $500 and he replaced my furnace which must have been a good deal. it only lasted about 3-4 years so maybe there was something wrong with it. but he charged me more than 50 big macs

I can eat a big mac but I have to ask them to make it without the middle bun. Doesn't add anything worthwhile to the burger.

Yeah, sounds like it was great deal.

If it were me, I don't think I'd tell anyone that story. Ever.

I see, ive been aware of small retail store franchises, in the UK theres "Spar" which small shop owners can join and still own their shop. But I never realized mcdonalds was one of those type of companies. Most of the mcdonalds ive been to here seem to have the same structure, as in the building was built to be a mcdonalds from day 1. Big glass windows throughout, single story, tiled sort of flat roof, overall square shape.

YHGTBFKM.

Do you know where babies come from?

Mayne what do you do for career/work?

Why? McD's is a franchise. Any loss like a freebie coupon hits the pocketbook of the franchisee, not McDonald's corporate.

HVAC

normally I usually get tipped with home-made wine lol.

I have never eaten a big mac. I don't like mysterious nasty sauces or any kind of veggie on a burger.

has this type of thing ever happened to anyone else. a refrigerator guy did the same thing. he gave me his number and told me to call him directly next time i needed servicing, but i lost it and a few years later i did need servicing and called his company again and he came to my house and he was mad i hadnt called him directly, sorry man, i lost yer numba or i wooda!

In order to open a single McDonald's franchise, you need something like over $1,000,000 in assets and like $250,000 liquid assets. So, in order to open 5, you need a lot of capital. Even assuming they opened over time, this family is loaded.

And, how did they get that way? Paying morons 50 wholesale Big Macs to install 2 furnaces and 2 A/Cs.

US franchisors generally require franchisees to sign a franchise agreement that lets them hold the franchisee by the balls. If you don't like it you can't buy into their system. The franchisee handles local concerns like managing the staff and ordering inventory but the franchisor dictates layouts, menu, dress codes, business practices, suppliers, and basically everything else you can think of. This ensures that the franchise remains consistent across all its locations.

My gas furnace is 30 years old. It should be replaced from an efficiency standpoint but otherwise it works fine. The second house we lived in when I was a kid had an oil-fired furnace that was more than 60 years old.
