Yes it'll shift. It's gonna shift anyway. You'll find that the down moves from the head of the comforter to the foot, so there's more at the foot. Then you just turn it around!

The baffles are to keep the shifting to 15" sections, without baffles the feathers can go all over inside the whole dimension of the comforter.

thanks for the reply. I understand there'll be some shifting of the contents within a 15" box, but is it worth it to go for, say, a 9" box instead? I would imagine the shifting would be very limited inside that small square.

The title is kind of misleading, this thing is ONLY 5% down and 95% feather. There is a HUGE difference between 100% down and 95% feather stuff, IMO. Down is MUCH better.

And ... if your allergic to down ... you'll have a heart attack with feathers. I went with down alternative with smartbargains.com .. Turned out not as fluffy as down, but I have to insert an epi-needle if I use down.

I thought they were different? A duvet is just a bag of cloth that is used to cover up a comforter to keep it clean or hide its uglyness. A quilt is filled with some sort of stuffing. Thats what I think, correct me if I am wrong please!

Actually, the down itself is not what people are allergic to. People are allergic to the dander that attached to the down. Through repeated washing of the down before anything is made of it the down can be made hypoallergenic. It is highly unlikely that you will ever find any down comforter that is hypoallergenic for under a few hundred dollars though.

Just wanted to add some usefull info. I have wanted one of these ever since i stayed at a bed & breakfast last year in Austria. The way they did a queen size bed was they have two twin size duvets (down comforters with covers), thats one for each person, and no top sheet. So u just use the duvet and lay on the bottom sheet. Its great cause i dont much like waking up to find someones stolen all my covers and i always tear the sheets up anyway. So i have started doing this too except i have a queen size one. Its super eazy to make the bed now. I got mine at bed, bath, and beyond for about $140 and its really nice, much more lofty than cheaper ones. if u buy one in a store make sure u take it out, look at it, and feel it.


- You can use these instead of a top sheet

- they told me at bed bath... that if you want to wash it but dont want to pay for the really expensive dry cleaning, then you can wash it on cold/ gentle cycle and put it in the drier on gentle with some clean tennis balls!

- also 2 cheap feather/down pillows

Forgot to update the thread...but I got my comforter and it is great. Compared it to the one at Costco and the Costco one is heavier but other than that, this is a pretty nice comfortor for $50. I couldn't see myself spending the $100 on the other one since the difference is not that great to me. I was suprised for something that looks so thin (thinner than my old regular comfortor) could be so warm. I am not use to down comfortors so a drawback is that it is a little noisy.

I picked up a cover and some shams at the local ikea for $20. Not the greatest or softest but can't beat $20. And this comfortor is nicer than any ikea had.

I placed my order on 12/4, shipped on 12/9. still havent got it yet....
from the tracking page, i should get it today.

I got my order today... that took very long.

then i open up the package, and see no labels on the comforter at all. nothing to assure me that i got the one i ordered! So i check on the website, they have changed the name of the one i ordered from "Aurora White Goose Down Comforter" to "Alta White Goose Down Comforter" for the exact same item. To check if mine is actaully that one, i measure the size of teh box stitch which should be 9 inch as stated in the page. But the one i got has 10.5 inch box stitch....

as to quality of the comforter, not soft and flufy like the one my gf has or my ex-gf had.

in conclusion, i'll never order from overstock.com again, and gonna give them a call now.

I saw another thread about the down-alternative, hypo-allergenic comforter from Overstock.com. With 200 thread count cotton cover and 15" box stitching, I got the king size for total $42.94, shipped. Living in the wet Northwest, I wanted the non-down comforter, as polyester fill never loses its loft when wet. I just wanted a new comforter to fill my duvet cover.

(By the way, to the person who talked about duvets.......the duvet is the comforter or down blanket, you're talking about duvet covers....)

When I received the comforter, it still had most of the product tag, but only showed "National Sleep Products, Seattle". I contacted both Overstock and National Sleep Products, asking about which exact product this might be. I found out that that National sells these comforters is several grades at SealyBedding.com, so I looked at the photos there. I finally got a lead on the product number from Overstock and SealyBedding responded with some info: "The model number you provided is for a Ultimate Down Alternative comforter. This model features 42.75 ounces of Ultima Fiber fill (a polyester fiber different from Polarguard®) in a 200 thread count linen shell."

The comforter is warm, well-constructed, and a great alternative to down. Hope that helps!

I still haven't got a duvet for it yet but after a year of use, its softer than ever before! It takes about a month or two for it to fully become "soft", kinda like crinkling a piece of paper until it gets soft...

I bought my down pillow from Costco for 29.99. I love it to pieces. You sink right into it and it holds your neck/head. And once you get off, it puffs back up.
