Dow is probably going to go up 300 points today

Wow, AT's very own Administration talking head. Pay must be great.

Why oh why do the mods let you post outside of P&N when all you do is troll about politics in OT?

This one was simple. The Dow never goes up 300 in a bull market. It routinely goes up 300 in a bear market.

Just wait until tommorrow. 😛

Thus I expect the initial gains to retreat and possibly end the day in a slight loss.
Dow: initially +60, ends -2.

Nasdaq: initially +14, ends -6.

S&P: initially +9, ends 0.

Hey, look at SEB since Feb of this year. That was a good pick I made.

With the GDP news, Dow will probably be up solidly today. Not 300 points, but it'll probably be up significantly. Anyone who makes an actual number prediction is setting themselves up for ridicule when the prediction goes wrong. But since you started it, lets say it ends up 60 on Nov 30, 2005.

With the GE and Crude Oil News I'll take that bet.

Worse yet, all he does now is shoot off one-liners and rarely re-visits the thread. Such a troll.

That's it. I'm not taking anymore of your guy's stock advice :|.

You win this round, Mill.

I should have looked at GE before posting. And Oil skyrocketted today. The slightly negative Fed news didn't help either.

Dow was on its way up, down 70 so far.
Nasdaq is even most of the day.
S&P was even, down 7 so far.

I'll predict a slightly all around positive day tomorrow. And no, KLin don't take anyone's advice over the internet. All I did yesterday was know for a fact that Mill was way off base. That doesn't mean that I can predict the future though.

Yes I know 😛. If I ever want stock advice, I'll ask a stock broker.

Market looks really bullish today. Where do you think it will end, Dullard?

I'm gonna go with a 50 point gain.

Bah this market is crazy.

Gold and Platinum way up.
Oil and Natural gas still high, Natural Gas is way crazy now.
Yield curve pretty flat, heck just a few days ago the 3 yr was below the 2 yr.

I don't like it one bit

Just a few days too early. I'm in too late today to make a prediction. That would be like calling the winner of a football game halfway through the 4th quarter - no one would care if I was right, and everyone would complain if I was wrong.

This sucks for most of us of course. Monthly / bi-monthly paychecks will have our retirement plans buying just after the big run-up. Meaning we get far less stock for our money. Sure there are day traders and people just retiring now that it benefits. But those people are the minority.

I didn't think about that, but the timing can really hurt the IRA and 401k'ers can't it?
Many of them get end of the month paychecks/first of the month paychecks. That means they will be buying often on the end of the 1st of every month. Right after the big run-up. If we have to have a run-up, I'd much rather it be on the 3rd or 4th of the month.

The best thing for me (and many other people) is for stocks to plummet to near zero. Buy a lot, then retire wealthy when they come back. Big gains like this are the worst possibility for my retirement.
