http://jalopnik.com/5599712/how-i-convinced-fanboys-my-civic-was-a-rare-ford

Cliffs:
Douche bag Civic Si owner wants to crash Ford car show
Replaces every badge, emblem, etc on his car with Ford bits
Makes up story about a one-off model from Ford Europe
Lots of stupid people believe him and don't recognize that it's still a Civic Si
Finally gets caught and pisses everyone off

In the end it's not a big deal, and kind of funny that so many people believed him, but still - what a tool.

I don't know why Jalop posted this. This guy is going to get internet-wrecked. Some Ford guy in his Raptor is going to drive over his civic.

No one realized that was a Civic?! I'm not a Honda fan or owner, and I can easily tell from the front quarter shot (photo 10).

Yeah, it's not like the average driver doesn't encounter 50+ of those on the road every single day.

lmao domestic fanboys

how do you not spot that?

Because he said it was European. Americans don't give a rat's ass about what goes on outside.
Americans: those damn pompous Europeans.
Europeans: those damn dumb Americans.
and so forth.

If the Civic Si came with some sort of wild body kit I could see it, but it looks like every other Civic of that generation.

Brb, butting Lambo badges on my Mustang and selling it for $250k. It's a classic after all...

So as soon as I say something is European an American brain will turn off? Cool.
Did their brain turn off when they saw the car before they found out what it was?

Just saying that some fool with badges and a story fooled them, initially. Once their brains kicked in and they realized it's still a civic, he got what was coming to him. Still, a good social experiment.

I think they didn't realize because (A) it's Canada and (B) the audience was probably mostly older. I didn't get the impression this was a "bring your hot azz new Stang out" type of show

Kinda like all the dumb Honda fans with ther V-Tec stickers stuck all over cars that don't have it. Or the complete idiocy of them putting 4" exhausts on stock motors.

Or putting GT or Cobra badges on a V6, putting 4" exhausts on stock motors.
