The plural of 'anecdote' is 'anecdotes', not 'data'.
-- Mark Crislip

No, you can't use anecdotes in science.

Think again student.

I said you'd still have scientific methods in place, but by definition most research is inherently based on anecdotal evidence that becomes proven.

However; your beliefs are typical for someone that wants to be spoonfed dogma and lacks the grey matter to prove things themselves.

You try too hard at these petty things which is why you find it so hard to meet chicks. You are more interested in a cock fight.

Really? Do you have any evidence to back that up? Because it smells like bullshit to me.
Why so insecure?

you with the insecurity stuff...again there is no insecurity. I know people like you have no experience yet think they have it all figured out.

I don't want to get into the whole history of how anecdotes went from one thing into the belief now of them.

It's like how many out there still think the internet is not real and any source is flawed.

The main problem is when one uses third-party anecdotal evidence as a sole argument against another set of evidence with proven background. However; everyone now seems to think this applies to first-person testimony or against unproven/subjective items.

For health supplementation...I have tried many things, some were garbage..some worked really well for me. I know this because I track my progress. When I try something new if my progress doesn't change in some way; I know it didn't work FOR ME.

Now people want to then throw placebo, double-blind, blah blah blah into it. I am not out to prove anything, just relay things that worked for me and that I experienced.

The problem here is everyone automatically assumes (because they have never done anything with their lives) that any personal experience is purely anecdotal and there cannot be any scientific method behind it.

because he created this thread to troll because of his butthurt in the other thread, he was getting pissed that i was using the terms above cept for douche...and he was totally reliant on anecdotal evidence to back his dubious claims.

dude don't give yourself so much credit. There are other posters that inspired this.

This.

I read the above. Still not answered.

I really don't get how either of you still don't understand.

Theory doesn't start usually with "Hey this is a great idea....let me write down my question and formulate my hypothesis"

It's usually years and years of experience and hence anecdotal.

Don't worry in 4 years you only have so much time to work with so everything moves fast. You are also only proving what people have already proven before you so it makes it a bit easier.

let me know if you two are still lost.

You're still butthurt. Just for you, we'll try to use lube next time.

Wow Trident...first claiming to be Parnelli Jones in Garage, and then Cassanova in L&R and now the layer down of smack downs.

I think you are out of your element. What are you all of 5'5" and look like 15 still?

Have you even seen a chick naked yet in real life one on one that wasn't hired help?

Yep people at my work use this too... so stupid...

I don't mind the term because it really fits. What happens when you ping a machine? You send out an unsolicited message and wait for a response.

What happens when you "ping" a person over IM? You send an unsolicited message and wait for a response.

Same exact thing.

[edit] So long as the term is used properly. IE: "Let me ping Bob and see if he's online".
Saying "I'll ping you later" is not proper ping usage.
