Please clarify my doubt ,anyone. Is it worthwhile to have a videocard capable of 300FPS for a perticular application if my monitor is only capable of a refresh rate of 85Hz. I mean, whether the capacity of the video card in terms of FPS has any efffect on the graphics if the refresh rate of the monitor is lesser than the frame rate of the videocard?

if you have a vid card that can run that high of fps, the benefit would be that you can now turn on some eye candy and still have a very playable game. you can raise the resolution, enable high texture quality, enable lighting features, and turn on some AA and AF (or raise what you are already at). Also, you will be able to play the new games as they come out without having to worry about your card being obsolete. If you are just asking if having 300fps is good in general... well too much is better than too little 😉 but i don't think there is much benefit to having that much other than in graphic intense situations it won't dip very low.
